[Relz] Less Annoying Magic Experience

I love LAME. There are still a few things that need to be ironed out, like Mages Guild members teaching Master level spells to help out Associates on their first mission... The only thing I'm sad about is that Stealthy Magic conflicts with all the new icons. But apart from that, great. I'm enjoying RBP and Integration as well. A bit OT but I'd love to do some voice acting for a few of your NPCs if you've considered that - would be happy to record some samples etc.

Dorry(EDIT Sorry!), I have no idea what could be causing this - but just to answer your initial question, no, it's not a "known issue", I've never seen this myself. Guess some other mods you're using play some tricks, but I can't see which ones - you should at least try deactivating SM, just for testing...? (EDIT: Ah! :facepalm: The conjuration override module, of course. See below)

@Codo85: OOO (or FCOM) do play very well with LAME, balance-wise; but the summons are indeed rather powerfull. Not excessively, but yes, Conjuration becomes a very usefull school - so does Illusion, or Mysticism, or Destruction, for that matter. And keep in mind NPCs can benefit from the rebalances: ennemy conjurers become very dangerous foes...

Hm. I'd call them "fairer". There were a couple of totally over the top summons in Vanilla / OOO that acutally got considerable weaker (like e.g. Clannfears. In LAME they're only around half as strong as before, and still the best expert melee summon... :wacko: ).

Got me a bit of an odd thing going on with LAME, some of the spells seems to be screwed up (Summon creature spells as far as i can see atm). For example the starter spell Summon Mudcrab says it will summon a Hunger, Same for summon Dire Wolf. Even NPC's seem to be summoning Hungers instead of scamps or undead. Is this something known or is it something i did? I did recently install SM aswell and placed it below LAME.

Hope you guys can help me out, if necesary ill post a pic and my load order this evening, cant atm.

If you're using SM, load the file "bgMagicEV_Conjuration_for_Supreme_Magicka.esp" after SM. You don't (either it's not there, or loaded before SM - I didn't check which one's the case), therefore you get these strange summons ;).

Later loading mod overwriting something, not present if LAME load lasts (unless the spells come from other mods. See the example mentioned before - if another mod gives a new player four "Summon Lich" spells, I can't change that ;)).

Hi BG!

I have a lesser power to summon a bear (from Upbringing). With LAME installed, the bear has a strange aura on its surface, and especially its whole face. I didnt realize it was LAME until I was using Oblivion without LAME for a while, and the bear was fine...I just reinstalled LAME and the bear face is foggy again.
Do you know what it might be?

Hi, bg.

Do you remember a few months ago I reported weird frost shader - like huge snowflakes... you didn't know what caused this... at that time I used SM and LAME

Well, I built my new game without SM and a lot of weird stuff is gone, magic is smoother than ever.
I know you spent lot of time with SM to make the 2 overhauls working together but I think they are better experienced on their own...

Now frost shader is very nice.

Hi BG!

I have a lesser power to summon a bear (from Upbringing). With LAME installed, the bear has a strange aura on its surface, and especially its whole face. I didnt realize it was LAME until I was using Oblivion without LAME for a while, and the bear was fine...I just reinstalled LAME and the bear face is foggy again.
Do you know what it might be?

Thanks! It was a shader problem evidently! I used the {set bgNoSummonShader to 1} console command, and my bears face is back to normal. (though I think it might still have a problem in the rain...must check into what shader is going into effect in that circumstance)

Without mods that means unlocking Arcane University which can be a bit "meh" I guess, though I think there's a few spells in both LAME and/or SM. Gonna have to wait for bg2408 to confirm I guess. You could check with TES4Edit or the CS otherwise.

Already checked TES4View, does not show any fortify skill spells in LAME. Atleast I couldn't see any.

There are a few fortify skill spells in LAME, but I've got zero idea where they're sold (it's been around two years since I've made them and put them into the merchant distribution script). Thinking about it, LAME could definitely use some more... :)

Not a problem per se, more that the bear face shows the shader much more strong than any other creature. Usually it's just a subtle glow, not... uhm... something like a bear that sniffed in a chalk bucket :D.

That's likesome some kind of get wet mod or something. As mentioned the bear model exaggerates all shaders greatly :).

Reason: I have played for 2 years SM + LAME and am inexperienced in pure LAME.

Some COBL added ingredients had (with SM + LAME) as a 4th ability levitation, so alchemist with skill > 75 could make levitation potions
Now, these ingredients (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2539496820101328736RwyNyS and http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2935529050101328736DkdiHD) do show unusual ability - Resist Water damage...
Is this Oblivion or heroes of Might and Magic III? :D
What is more, the icon for levitation is gone and I suspect I am missing the icon for this Resist Water damage thing...

My guess is I messed somehow with icons and have no idea what to do with this Resist Water Damage.
Is it LAME thing? COBL thing? Mistake?

Otherwise everything is cool...
can I ask for Summon Sprite spell (from vacuity's VASE) for Christmas? :D

Strange. Could it be that you've got some Cobl for SM / SM for cobl thing still running? Resist Water Damage is what SM used for Levitation, but is unused in LAME and in Oblivion otherwise. I can't imagine that it's included in the world with purpose :blink:.

Looking through the spells on tes cs, it has scripts like meteor strike etc. When casting these spells is there meant to be a new graphical effect like meteor's falling fromt he sky? That would be pretty sweet.

I've noticed someting odd with the J'Shiv scrolls... I find one, get the spell from it, then toss it in a container to save, but when I open the container later, all the scrolls I've gotten are gone. This has happened with every scroll I've found so far - is it a bug or intended design?

To WHAT container and how much latere is LATER? Couldn't that particular container just respawn it's content?

I knew I should've addressed that. No, the container definitely doesn't respawn - it's in a house mod (actually, they've disappeared from multiple containers, so I know for a fact it's not that). As for how much later... I dunno, a week or two game time. I have the respawn currently set to five days, and I don't find them all that often.

Scrolls: They don't show any special behavior. Odd. Very odd. Hm. You're not running version 1.2.0.414 of Oblivion by chance? It has a bug causing such behavior, but that was fixed in 1.2.0.416.

Only other explanation I have would be container overflow, which shouldn't happen in unrelated containers :blink:.
