Lesser known facts about Skyrim

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 7:11 am

You do know that neither dragons nor wyverns exist and that categorization is purely fiction, right? Any writer who wants to say that dragons have two hindlegs and two forelimbs with wings attached can do so.

Also, these are fairly common knowledge.

Actually, technically, you're wrong. Komodo Dragons have recently been reclassified as Dragons as a species.

There was a plague of them in my house the other day.

Y'know what it's like in England. Dragons, castles and fair maidens as far as the eye can see.

LIES! I have yet to see a fair maiden in England.

The Dragons you are referring to are all references with lore from our World.. Earth by the way just in case you don't realize.

So actually the Dragons in Skyrim shouldn't be related in any fashion to dragons from our own legend/myth as Tamriel is a completely different world all together. Who says in the TES games that Earth even exists?

That case if the lore says they are Dragons then they are Dragons, Wyvern don't exist in Skyrim or any TES games I remember therefore these Dragons in Skyrim aren't Wyvern.

I think my point make kinda sense...

I think.

I saw a dragon once, it was my primary school teacher. Mrs Parker, definitively a 60 year old dragon.

Yes the Orsimer were elves but Orcs are definitely not.

Orsimer are orcs. There is no distinction between the two in any TES book or game.

Um... no. That would be a Griffin - granted it's a small griffin but griffin nonetheless. Gustave Moreau (6 April 1826 – 18 April 1898) wasn't really that great of a painter who made pathetic attempts to mimic the Italian High Renaissance master Raphael, 1504-1506 of which there is obviously NO camparison whatsoever; Raphael was a gifted genius and Moreau was meh...

We don't care what you think about Moreau. It's a wyvern on the painting; whether you agree or not is of no importance. Go read the article about the wyvern; I put a link to it so that people like you learn.

there are more types of dragons than the dnd style dragon( 4 legs and wings not attached to forelegs).

there are older movies with the dragon with wings attached to forearms....

Orsimer are orcs. There is no distinction between the two in any TES book or game.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Orc
The Orcs were supposedly created when the Daedric Prince Boethiah defeated the Aldmeri god Trinimac, transforming him into Malacath and his faithful, the Orsimer, into Orcs. When the transformation occurred is unclear, but Orcs have been inhabiting the Iliac Bay region since the early years of the First Era. Some reports say Orcs were in Morrowind acting as raiders and mercenaries as early as 1E 700. It is known that the Aldmer had already colonized the mainland of High Rock during the Merethic Era before Orcs emerged. They were viewed as a constant threat to the other races, especially after the Ra Gada drove many Orcs out of Hammerfell and greatly strengthened Orsinium. Several kingdoms banded together in High Rock and destroyed the first Orc kingdom in 1E 980. Without a home, prejudice against them was even greater.

Meaning they are, indeed, elves; or at least, were in the beginning. The quest "Discerning the Transmundane" proves that the Orcs truly are elven.
Spoiler
Hermaeus Mora's follower even says "the blood of all elves" (paraphrased). Anyone who knows the lore behind the Princes know that Hermaeus Mora's sphere is all knowledge; forbidden or not, known or unknown, Mora knows it.
Just because they don't look like elves don't mean they aren't; "Mer" literally means "Elf" and the Orcs are Orsimer.

It was not the giants of Skyrim that named them "dwarves", it was the giants of Morrowind. Most Dwemer lived in Morrowind. Also, dwemer means "deep folk" as in intelligent. They also relied on technology instead of magic. The Dwemer also denied the daedra and a'edra, they questioned the power of these gods and even mocked Azura directly. It is a theory that Azura had something to do with the Dwemers disappearance.
I hope that eventually the Dwemer make a return! They are by far to me the most fascinating culture and race. They are intelligent and very capable. The Dwemer ruins are sooooo beautiful!
