Let's discuss the next games location, realistically.

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 2:03 pm

1. It won't be somewhere we've been. Cross out Skyrim, Cyrodiil, Vvardenfell, and Highrock (Highrock isn't a good shape for modern TES game, regardless)
2. Can't be somewhere destroyed, we've already been to morrowind anyways, and it was mostly destroyed, so.
3. It needs to be diverse enough landscape wise, and yet maintain a primary element. Black Marsh, is a fitting name, despite wishing for it, I know it'd be too much of one area.

I think the only real choices are Elsweyr, Valenwood, or the Summerset Isles.

Discuss.

Hammerfell would feature grassy savannas and deserts. Any of the provinces are possible aside from ones we've been to as even Black Marsh would be possible.

They make Elsweyr sound awesome! I think it would be cool to explore a desert and rain forest

Quote from another thread :

Lore wise,
Black Marsh is very likely to be the next setting for the Elder Scrolls. It all makes sense.

The Thalmor are slowly conquering all of Tamriel, and Argonia would be pretty much the only province capable of defending themselves agaisnt the Thalmor. They're on par with them.
The elves would probably leave it for last, so there'd be a lotta refugees from other races in there, allowing plenty of room for non-Argonian player characters and NPCs.

Both Alinor [land of the Thalmor] and Argonia were the only provinces capable of scaring the daedra off their lands long before Martin Septim even had a chance to end the Oblivion Crisis.

Besides, Argonia has a long history of being unconquerable. It was the only province the mighty Tiber Septim himself failed to conquer after countless failed attempts, and he was only able to get them to join the Empire through an agreement.

Plus, it would have the same alien-ish feel of Morrowind.

I honestly think they should make the next TES game like Oblivion. Not content wise in anyways, but the naming and title. It takes place in cyrodiil, but its not called "The Elder Scrolls IV: Cyrodiil". It should have a unique name, but for the first time, it should be the first multi country elder scrolls game. Pull out a map of Tamriel. Now take a look at Valenwood and Elsyweyr. Both of these places together are about the size of skyrim.

In other words, i think the next game should take place in BOTH of these places. Imagine the possibilities. You would have to sneak across the border, or have a certain ranking in the game to be allowed through with some sort of passport or special privlage or business. Think about it. Also, there could be many side quest where you would have to smuggle skooma or quest items across the border.

If you like my idea, please spread cause i think it would be amazing!

That could work as well.

I think black marsh is a possibility from the way you say it, but I'd rather not the whole place be a marsh the whole game.

Then again, most of morrowind was Ashlands now that I remember...

I imagine Black Marsh to be full of epic ruins and strange beasts. I wouldn't mind that at all. ;)

The Khajiit I meet up with in Skyrim, speaking of warm sands and their homeland, makes me want to visit Elsweyr. :D

So many options...

Im hoping for summerset isles, valenwood and elsweyr. The war with the empire and thalmor could be the main thing.

On one area. Yes but they said that about skyrim too. But I think valenwood is the most likely choice.

If the next game has us fight the Thalmor, I think it should be placed in Valenwood AND The Summerset Isles (now known as Alinor). Both provinces aren't terribly big and with next generation consoles it shouldn't be impossible.

Well, if we're talking about fighting the Thalmor, what about Hammerfell? I've said many times before that I would love this setting, and I hope it gets chosen. Either that, or a new continent entirely.

Anyhow, didn't the Redguards manage to kick the Thalmor out of Hammerfell after it became independent? I think that Hammerfell should at least play a role in fighting the Thalmor, don't you?

There are. Pyandonea to the south, where the Maormer (Sea Elves) live. Hasn't been particularly documented as of yet, because the Maormer kill anything that comes close. They've been involved in a war with Summerset in the past, got forced back to Pyandonea.

There's Yokuda to the West, but it's either sunk to the bottom after the Redguard nuked it or it's in pieces. Yokuda is where the Redguard originated from before they came to Tamriel.

Atmora to the North, where the original humans came from.

Akavir to the East, which everyone knows about. Unlikely it'll be any of them, though. Bethesda is far too lazy. Remember in Oblivion where there was a conversation with a Tsaesci ghost and Bethesda just copy pasted in an Imperial ghosts model anyway? Like they're going to design and model the 4 other races.

parts of hammerfell were in daggerfall, right? also there was this game "redguard" even though its just a spin-off. hqammerfell would be my last choice because its another human province with no really exotic content. its time for something fresh. black marsh, elsweyr, valenwood, sunerset isles are my favourites, in that order.

Realistically, in the nerd minds of Bethesda, Black Marsh.
