So let me get this straight...

our multiplayer is going to be continuously playing the campaign with friends/randoms? wouldnt that get very repetitive?

im just trying to find out everything about this game.

I thought about that too.

But isn't multiplayer just a few maps and some gamemodes?

The Maps are from the story, but everytime u play the missions r different, or else it would get very boring

The missions are always the same.

Every map is build with a certain mission-sequence in mind.

Example: Container City (Securtiy Mission)
  • Escort robot from jetty.
  • Blow up gate which is blocking the way.
  • Further escort robot.
  • Carry the robot over a blockade, using a crane.
  • Further escort robot.
  • Recover a bioweapon with help from the robot.
  • Bring the bioweapon to a helicopter.

Since the multiplayer is just the missions doesn't that mean that one team will have to be on offense and the other on defense? It might be boring to be defense

W:ET follows similar objectives but without a plot and it is still one of the most played games on the internet. I don't see how adding skip-able cut-scenes and a back-story would take away from replayability.

I was told that both teams have an objective.

Think people are starting to touch on topics, Thus to be left alone!!

Seriously guys - How can we get into a discussion about "Boredom" already, We havent even played it yet.

Theres so many other factors about this game that could make it fail, nevermind its gameplay getting "repetitive".

We all know that it will get "repeatable" - Thats why were here....

How many of you out there still go back to "COD - BC and f2p games such as AVA - Combat arms - CS etc etc" These games are played out repetition, But we go back to them "Because there fun!!!"

At the end of the day, Brink will eventually be played out - coops done - Campaign done - achievements done. But at the end of the day - If i can go back to brink and drain a quick 2-3hours of my day (Minimal) - And have an absolute blast with friends, family and Randoms - Doing strategy co-op sessions, Great multiplayer action - If this can accomplish this, Then the game has served its purpose.

I know Brink is "A way of life" for most - Including myself, Been hyped since 2009 like everyone else.

But lets not dwell on silly things that are only negative to the game itself, But better yet....Lets wait and see what its really going to "Brink" us ;)....

See you all at The Arc

Isn't all multiplayer repetitive by its very nature? Anyways, it seems not long ago I was in a discussion about this about a completely different game: there were people wondering about MotorStorm Apocalypse. They were saying since all the destruction happens the same way and at the same point every time you race a track, wouldn't you start to predict exactly whats going to happen each time and thus it gets boring? And to that I told them to look at every other racing game, nothing happens in the track every single time, so wouldn't you be able to predict exactly what will happen there too?

So now in a similar sense, why don't you look at other shooters. Wouldn't playing the same multiplayer-influenced story missions over and over again be the same thing as playing the same maps in CoD or Battlefield over and over again? And I saw someone posted this above me that the missions will be in the same order each time on every map, well in the same sense the missions are in the same order for every map in every other shooter, the difference is Brink has more than one mission per map (without having to select a new mode).

Not MMO's. Also, the word"repetitive" seems to have a sliding scale in this thread.

Raiding on WoW sure as hell is. Especially once you finish progression and just start farming for loot.

That said, I never did get tired of the really well done raids such as Ahn'Qiraj, Hyjal, Sunwell Plateau, and Naxxaramas.

Oh, and I played a mage through most of Burning Crusade - except for a few select fights, that was the definition of repetitive (and yet, warlocks were even worse).

A key experience in most MMOs is grinding. Maybe you're not grinding the same critters repeatedly, but the process of grinding is quite repetive.

There are things that SD could do to keep it "fresh". Hopefully they are interested in keeping the experience going.

...and there is a free play mode which does not follow the sequence of the campaign.

Where'd you hear that?

A "free play" mode with its own (random?) objectives and full bot support would be awesome. It'd give me something to do in the game after completing all the campaigns and such. :)

I'm a little worried about the repetitiveness as well, but I don't think it'll be any more repetitive than playing the same 10 or so BFBC2 Rush maps over and over again.

I think a quick read through this thread should help you out a little... http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1179383-pressing-multiplayer-concern/

I was thinking exactly that. If anything, the varied objectives would make it a little more exciting than Battlefield objective modes.

No more repetitive than playing CTF or TDM on the same map, for the 50th time.

Free Play mode doesn't go with the story and is like any other game. (ie. You go into a game, you play it, win or lose you go to a different map and different people, unless you're in a Fireteam, you stay with them.)

No more repetitive than football, but we all still love it anyways.

Fixed it. Not everyone loves Football, so I changed it so some people wouldn't flame or anything. Sorry if me fixing it offended you in anyway, just playing on the safe side for the forums sake.

Yeah it did a little bit, just because I hate being censored (and thats what I view it as), but no hard feelings its on such a miniscule scale. Honestly I don't care if you like football or not, that's fine if you hate it. But I deliberately chose not to say sports and say football because I know alot of people, myself included, have a huge passion for it and I could care less about being politically correct.
