Looks like you want more options than needed too! Quest marker toggle? No. Compass? No. Crosshairs? Yes. Finishing moves? No. Although I agree that I don't like the idea of finishing moves, we shouldn't be able to toggle it. Mods should take care of the extra stuff that we don't like.

I would strongly disagree about they would be "more options than needed" since they're so intrusive and controversial and A LOT of people are very much against it. That definitely qualifies as "needed" in my book.

Many would argue that the things you say shouldnt be toggleable shouldnt even be in the game to start with.

I have a solution!
There should be a toggle the makes the other toggles available.

Optional or toggleable things are good and dont harm anyone so they are the solution to most things. Your fears becoming true is a bit far fetched. Optional finishing moves, romances or nudity that players dont have to see if they dont want to doesnt take away from anyone's fun.

Actually , that looks fantastic. I would love to see a game where it's completely customizable for your style of playing. It's a single player game after all and who cares how others want to play it. I believe at some point someone will create an "all game" something that can build itself to your specifications based on what kind of game you want to play. Sure, it's not everyone's cup of tea. Some people enjoy unbendable rules and think that everything should be set in stone and if you don't like it tough. But with games selling to wider and wider markets and budgets for game climbing and climbing.. it would seem (at the moment) the best strategy would be to come up with something that you could sell to the widest of ranges and earn the most money from. The only way to do that is with infinite amounts of options.

Problem is develop the game for all options, I work as a programmer and know options pretty well :)
You easy end up with most of the code for displaying some web pages is handling options for different views and most of the web pages are support pages is for setting options.
Granting then creating a report getting it how you want is important, but it makes program it five times as time consuming.

Nope. You're wrong. It does way more harm than you think. So, please... :flamethrower::shocking:

It's a great picture. 99% of those things are not something Bethesda would be able to make toggle-able without it involving a lot of extra work though. Even impossible for some. But that's what mods are for, right? :P

I ended with more than 200 mods in both Morrowind and Oblivion. Installing each mod or making my own changes is way more complex than making a selection in a menu. I think it's absurd to think that the picture uploaded by the OP shows too many options.

Not everything needs to be toggleable [toggable?... toggarrific?], except for the quest arrow which I better be able to turn off.

While reading through several threads about if this or that should be in the game I noticed a distinct similarity in most of them: Someone saying make it toggleable. (yeah it's a word :stare: ). While there is nothing wrong with the politically neutral solution to the problems, it does lead to a rather unwanted event if it happens too often.

http://i681.photobucket.com/albums/vv175/Proditus/Unnecessary.jpg

:nope: That's not what we want for Skyrim, is it?

Now, go on ahead and discuss if something should be in or not, but remember that making it toggleable is not the solution.

Spoiler
Should making everything toggleable be toggleable? :bonk:

daaaaang i feel bad for the guy or girl who made the pic

Anyone who actually thinks having that many toggleable options in a game is a good idea is stupid, or knows nothing about game design. There would be so many conflicts and issues caused by so many options that the game could become unplayable, or we'd have a lot of options that are barely fleshed out. It's a question of quality over quantity.

Toggled UI is confirmed (according to UESP), children (possibly, but I can't judge on that yet), and hardcoe mode (if included), definitely.

Pretty sure quest markers have been removed in favour of clairvoyance (watch G4 trailer), which IS optional.

Otherwise, mod it. And if you can't play it on PC, then buy one capable of it.

EDIT: Typos

Looks like you want more options than needed too! Quest marker toggle? No. Compass? No. Crosshairs? Yes. Finishing moves? No. Although I agree that I don't like the idea of finishing moves, we shouldn't be able to toggle it. Mods should take care of the extra stuff that we don't like.

What is with all the PC gamers? It's like they think us console users don't even exist! Are you really so self-centered as to say that we need to mod all our problems away even though there are so many who can't mod their games?
On Topic: Only the most controversial things should be toggleable, like quest markers, finishing moves, "hard-core" mode, etc..
I would very much like quest markers and even location markers in general to be toggleable, it increases my chances of getting lost, which is actually fun. It's also more realistic, who has a compass that points out every nearby location?

Yes. I don't see why you would even play Skyrim on the console.

Yes. I don't see why you would even play Skyrim on the console.

Because you don't have the money to spend on a gaming computer, and would rather enjoy the game on a big screen TV from the comfort of your couch, with the simplicity of a controller, instead of huddling over a brightly lit screen in darkness developing carpal tunnel from holding a mouse tightly, complaining about how the game is dumbed down and how Bethesda svcks and modders should take over the world.

They should have the option to toggle off the people who want to be able to toggle everything off.
