Man, if I could give you a high five, I would. You are absolutely correct, I also think this game may have a low skill ceiling. The fact that you understand what a skill ceiling is, and you can foresee it just tells me you're actually an experienced FPS player. Good man!
As a result though, this game's play will be more tactic focused, or at least that's what I am hoping. It should be a very much needed change for the genre. Of course, I personally am not a fan of low skill plateaus, as it just limits skilled players, but I am interested in the team play it surely will encourage.

:celebration:
I think if it turns out to have a low ski ceiling it will be played competitively, but it's active lifetime will be cut desperately short.
If there is a significant amount of individual skill necessary (i.e. supplementary to team tactics and coordination), then I suspect it will be in tracking targets: keeping one's crosshair on them consistently (whilst dodging and SMARTing I suppose) to do damage due to the overall high health of players in Brink, be it with a pistol, SMG, or scoped bolt-action rifle. For the latter, for example, the skill comes in in that you need multiple headshots to kill the opponent, not one massive long-range one.
