Let's be honest; did this game fail?

Post » Mon May 16, 2011 1:49 pm

I for one was quite disappointed with this game personally. I still have a good amount of fun with it, I'd be lying if I said I didn't. I'm still playing it every day and the more I play the more fun I have.

With that said, it's overwhelming how many empty servers I see in the server browser. I like to join games with a ping under 100, and even during primetime there's like 2-3 to choose from. What's going on? Am I missing something or is it just that nobody is playing this game?

You're being biased. I think you meant to have that say 'don't disagree with me'.

There is a problem with the server list - use steam server view, rather than in game.

I think location has a lot to do with it. I tend to not join servers over 40 ping, let alone 100 :)

In the EU - we have loads. A good selection under 30, some under 20. Most have a decent number of players on them as well :)

Why no servers full in America?

Well you see, in America we have this little thing that is called CoD, its why you all think we are idiots, we buy the same title with the same gameplay over and over and just a small change in scenery has occured, ironic is it not?

Other then that little bit, I am far from disapoint with BRINK. It was a great experience to play through and I think that people are overlooking the game, I am not being biased by the way. There are some errors but they can be tuned out in a DLC or two, this game has my heart and true potential.

brink needs bots removed and pre lobbies for parties put in place. they failed at merging SP n MP, this is like counter strike and battlefield offline in the old days...its nothing NEW. other than that brink actually is a good game! just freaking delete the bots completely from online play

Uh, no. I like the bots where they should be in Co-op, but in Freeplay, why not?

because co op and single player have bots...why must they be online? co op = friends vs bots, single player = you vs bots, free play = you + maybe friends + randomers vs maybe friends + randomers. if you add bots it almost becomes the same as co op ?_? i mean yes its 'freeplay' so maybe you can keep options to play bots in private games and maybe one playlist that has bots too in public BUT other than that i think they ruin it

The old videos looked better than the game we have now, but anyhow..

.. I think people have given up on this game already, I can't find any humans online at all :/ Or is this some matchmaking issue?

Might be because of the patch they put on for the 360, that only allows for 4 humans on each team, and the rest is filled with bots due to all the lag people have been experiencing. Should get better once the patch is released

This game is extremely disappointing, we were promised an engaging story, tons of customization, an innovative movement system, tons of objectives, and unique character abilities.

We got none of those things, or at least not to the level they should have been.

The only thing SD was able to deliver was teamwork, but it isn't even that fun and is less fun when you can't even play with real people. I honestly feel like I bought a rushed striped down version of the game that SD was promoting in the first place, what a disappointment.

We did not get what we were promised, yes.. We got a watered down version of that

The game is great, meaning that the promised product would be awe-inspiring and/or too good to be played by the public

I want to see Splash respond to this :/

Honestly the ideas behind the game are amazing, and that is the only strong part of the game, the sad part is that their full potential wasn't used by splash damage. I really hope they make a second one, with all the stuff they said they would have.

I'm loving it on my PC...
...it's pretty much what I was expecting. Sure there are some bugs, but other games have been a lot worse. The original concept is prolly too bugged to release - would you really want a game so unstable that it's unplayable?
Be thankful for what we got... it's still a breath of fresh air :foodndrink:

***EDIT*** - from what I'm picking up on the forum, the gameplay issues seem to be mostly from console users... my PC battles are fast and intense (bots act like real people 99% of the time) ...if bots aren't like that on console, then I can appreciate your frustrations.

Where is this game? - where is the darkness? - The color? The gameplay? The funny/sarcastic security cinematics....

Where is this Game SD? Is this Brink 2? Or possibly the "real" version of Brink?

This is what got me into brink in the first place - I wanted too know "Whats that green glow at the end"....

Well - Where the hell did you guys go wrong.

Hm,let me guess why nobody is playing this game.

Oh wait,got it.

PSN still isn't back up in many states and countries,Xbox version is laggy as [censored] and not optimized so is the PC version.

If this game would actually WORK,people would play it.

@Sadiro

You know why this game looks like [censored] at the moment?

Screen Space Ambient Occlusion is [censored] up and looks like [censored] and the shadows are also [censored] up.there is no difference between High and medium.
You can clearly see that in the Container City video is so much occlusion going on,especially at the terminal. And there are MANY more shadows too.

What i don't get is,why does it work like this in the video but not in the final game then?

I think it's HBAO, like in BFBC2, but i can't find anything about it, except that it was used in BFBC2.

Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_Space_Ambient_Occlusion says, BFBC2 used SSAO, so HBAO = SSAO in low resolution

it really does look different compared to that video =\

this game IS FUN if you play with friends online but i still find the one MASSIVE problem with online play is the [censored] bots, they shouldnt be there

The game isn't even a week old.

I was only disappointed with the fact that most of the content seen in videos and what was said was not all there for this game. Other than that i still can say i have picked it up on launch and haven't put it down since, This game has so much potential it's amazing, granted some things would be appreciated that they would put in such as a party system. However, with a game like this to pave the road in innovation i can only see good things for brink and the FPS world.
