Let's Play a TES Game -- by: a Lorebuff

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 5:52 am

What I'd really much like to see is a Let's Play video series of an Elder Scrolls game with someone who actually knows a great deal about lore playing it. The one playing would concentrate on telling about lore, what theories there are to what phenomena, etc. Do you know if there are those out there? Or would someone be willing to start one?

It's more fun to learn and play yourself. ;)

Go to the http://www.imperial-library.info/ and just start reading. You'll be amazed at what you'll find out!

Not that I haven't. Just thought it would be a good idea. Also some veteran players could get a totally new aspect to gaming.

Hm. I might be willing to give the non-video (i.e. screenshot/narrative, something kinda-sorta like http://lparchive.org/Neverwinter-Nights-2/) style of Let's Play a try - not so much a video, I don't know how one would fit the lore into that anyway. Also, I don't have a working microphone, so no narrative anyway even if you'd want to endure my voice. :P

That wouldn't hurt either. :)

About how the lore could fit in the gaming, that's a bit harder thing. If something is wrong lore-wise, or if something is right and reminds the player of a particular event (e.g. seeing the Red Mountain -> telling about the Battle of Red Mountain) or mechanism (e.g. seeing Masser and Secunda and "stars" in the sky), that would be told. I'd gladly even hear some things that the "lorist" can think of even if it doesn't have anything to do with the gaming context at that time.

The start of the game could, for example, tell about the current political situation and why is that, tell some general history of Vvardenfell, and place these things on the timeline. Something along these lines. Whatever comes to the player's mind, really.

If I had some sort of video recording software I might try it.

Ever watched any of those group LPs, where there's one guy playing and then a panel of other people. It would be better if you had a conversation about that map of Stormcloak positions you just found.
