Bethesda has to choose something.

Cater to small group of hardcoe fans.

Cater to large group of casual fans who provide the most sales.

Sorry, but videogames have gone mainstream and we are going to continue to see more idiot-proofing.

Just, mod it out.

This is the answer. I can just imagine my friend getting mad because he sold a quest item. "Well I didn't know I needed it!!!"

if you have 0 chance of failure then you have 0 chance of having fun

FACT

also

modern technology and medicine has done something horrible to the human race.... idiots DON'T get eaten by predators or killed by elements as they should anymore, why did we evolve! because it was natural selection and again natural selection will catch up to the human race.

EVEN IN GAMES.

Off topic but I hope modders make more interesting mods this time round. FQQMOOSP type mods bore me.
How about more vampire embrace or the underground syle mods!

I could never sell a quest item

You could sell those Ayleid statues in the "Collector" quest for Umbacano. I think if you sold one or two you couldn't complete it and get the true ending.
