Let's talk lore: What if the Dragonborn was executed at Helg

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 4:58 pm

Let's say that the Dragon at the beginning of the game showed up right after the Dragonborn was executed.

What would happen to Skyrim?

How would the lore turn out?

Maybe there's more than one Dragonborn at a time. After all, I got to thinking - one of the guards could be the Dragonborn, and he just doesn't know it.

it would be like buffy. another would arise. i think it can be easily argued that some force in the universe wanted the current world to keep on trucking. so they made sure it could.

Alduin would swoop down, eat the World, and then Lorkhan would trick the gods into making a realm for all of them, in which the next kalpa would begin.

The game would be shorter than CoD3.

Oh snap.

As for the question, I'm sure someone else would become a Dragonborn. Hell, we have Greybeards and Ulfric, all who use Dragonshouts.

Doesn't matter, they can't absorb a dragon's soul to actually kill it.

What if on route to the High Hrothgar the dragonborn was eaten by a frost troll?

Another one would be born after the others death obviously...Think of it as, the Avatar:The Last Air Bender, from the cartoon/the movie, when the avatar dies, another is born, same soul, different person

That's a good point. But they could at least keep them subdued until the next Dragonborn shows up. Which would be anywhere from 5 seconds to never lol.

He was...several times, in fact, but Akatosh, the God of Time, reversed time over and over again until the dumb ol' Dovahkin realized he didn't have to kill the frost troll, he could just run past it.

You think 4 men and a jarl who can barely cast fus ro dah will subdue dragons?

Also you don't need the voice to kill dragons, mortals have done it, the dragons just never really died ( back in the dragon wars.. or whatever they were called. )

There is no indication that Ulfric is NOT a dragonborn...I have yet to kill a dragon in his presence, so we don't know if he can absorb dragon souls or not.

He does know Fu, Ro, and Dah and he's only like 50 years old?

I thought it took tons longer to learn any shout?

Things were looking pretty bleak until Alduin took an arrow to the knee.

Doesn't the Prophecy say that the wheel will fall on the LAST Dragonborn. That indicates there will be no more dragonborns and thus Alduin would eat the world.

You guys have to realize, just because you're a Dragonborn doesn't mean you're going to be competent enough to stop Alduin.

Fus, not "Fu," and it takes years to learn them. How long were you thinking? I mean, on average, Nords don't live any longer than 100, unless they're powerful mages.

Good question. I imagine a big war between mortals and dragons would devastate Tamriel. It's up in the air who would win.

That's easily doable by the time you are 50, even with a war and imprisonment and formenting a rebellion.

Lore-wise, it is quite possible that the Dragonborn can be anyone Akatosh wants it to be. So he could always pick another.

In every generation, there is a Chosen One. She He alone will stand against the Vampires Dragons, the Demons Daedra, and the forces of Darkness. She He is the Slayer Dragonborn.

As someone else said, like in the BuffyVerse, Chosen Ones are expendable in Tamriel. Every time one gets the snuff, another comes to replace him.
