Lets go back to the first day you played Oblivion

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 10:22 am

I swam across the lake to the "cool looking castle thing" on the other side. I almost got killed by a slaughterfish while swimming. I survived, and then went to have a conversation with the nice people who had made camp outside the castle. They were not so nice, and once again I just barely survived. I then looked at the map, scrolled over to the "market district" and clicked it thinking maybe I would get directions or something. Then I was corrupted by fast travel and proceeded to teleport my way through the main quest

You guys seriously thought they were campers, eh? Too trusting . . . I'm pretty sure the first thing I EVER did to a bandit hanging around the campfire was to shoot him/her/it in the back of the head with an arrow! :flamethrower:

I walked all the way around the lake to the main entrance of the Imperial City, decided to check out weye where I got my first quest:A Venerable Vintage witch I still haven't finished. After that I just wandered around the Imperial City, I remember being astonished by the fact they gave every character voice-acting.

Oblivion was my first TES game, so walking out of the sewers for the first time was unbelievable. The view of the massive world was stunning.

The first day I tried to create a character. The screen only showed up as the menu on the left and white on the right where the face is supposed to show up. After that I planned to buy a new video card.

Once that issue was cleared up, I created a breton hybrid warrior/mage. The tutorial seemed to drag on forever (even on the first day of playing the game) and so I was especially happy to see the sunshine through the sewer grating. After leaving, I went directly to the Imperial City, as I have every time since.

I swear, if the statistics of every game of Oblivion ever played were compiled, those Vilverin bandits would come out as the top-ranked killers.

Yeah they would.I still hold a grudge against them so every once in a while I'll go over ther with my Goddess level character and and hand them their a**es!! Very gratifying.

I created a male Dunmer, and remember circling around Imperial City because I wasn't sure if I should go in there or not. I made my character with a couple regrettable major skills, but we stuck together for hundreds of beautiful hours anyway.

Pretty sure I went into the Ayleid ruin across from the sewer and then joined the fighters guild.

Let's see: Messed around with face creation for a few minutes. The tutorial took me forever, because I couldn't see. I didn't know how to equip my torch, so I just ran around blindly casting Flare every 10 feet. Exited the sewer. Walked up to the Imperial City (didn't figure out fast travel yet), killed a wolf on the way (was very proud of my self), went into the Merchant's Inn. Had a beer and read the Gray Fox wanted poster, thinking "I wonder when I'll meet him." Over the course of the next few hours, I randomly stole stuff from people's houses, and "stole" from the crates in the Market District.

Hahaha.. I'll never forget my first time.

I didn't realize at that time that I could rotate my character's head in the facegen menu, and I was totally stumped as to what most of the sliders were doing. The result was a Dunmer with a very awkward looking profile. I learned this one day while swimming in the pond in Anvil, and laughed.

Right out of the sewers I spent a good deal of time walking all around the coastline. It was nighttime. I had never seen such a beautiful game. Then I met a mudcrab and beat feet to the city.

I also got stuck in 3rd person camera mode somewhere very early in the tutorial and thought it was supposed to happen, so I figured I was horrible at archery, and I got frustrated over trying to pick various ingredients.

Aaah.. the memories. Good times.

I was wandering around the huge map not even doing any of the quests with my eyes popping out of my skull. I couldnt believe how true my workmates were on how big the game was. I have played games for around 20 years and I would say that oblivion is my number 1 game.

Me: Wow! So pretty! *swims to ruin* Heeey, where's the Imperial City!? *turns around* Ooooh....Drat. *swims back*

This exactly. I then spent about 4 days just doing stuff in the city and decided I should probably do the main quest. I started out to go through the woods and....died. To this day I still have not gone any where else except Imperial City, Kvatch, Anvil (I only did The Ghost Ship of Anvil) and.....that's it. I know I'm pathetic. I'm just to scared to leave the comfort of the cities :sadvaultboy:

Ahhh the olden days. I got it on my 14th birthday. (Back when it was rated teen, I wasn't allowed to play M games)

I was at a race so I had to play it in our RV and my first character was a High Elf Mage named Elderion whom I still play on 4 years later.

I didn't know what to do so I just ran around in the wilderness killing things.

*Edit* It was May 7 by the way.

I remember coming out of the Imperial Sewers and being amazed on how beautiful the Scenery was. The game alone is one of my favorites, but the scenery and environments is what truly makes me come back each time to play. Whenever I play Oblivion, I feel immersed within the game, and it is the only game that truly does this.

It's been so long ago that I can't remember exactly what I did first but I do remember how awesome it was when I came out of the sewers for the first time.

I'm surprised that so many people thought their characters escaped. That never occurred to me. Baurus lets our characters go. Baurus not only lets our characters go he gives our characters detailed instructions on exactly how get out of the sewer. He then instructs our characters to travel to Chorrol once they get out of the sewer. Our characters are not only freed, they're actually given a mission by Uriel Septim himself to deliver the most important artifact in all of Tamriel to his most trusted confidant. ;)

Yeah same here. My first time is really clouded, but I remember wandering around in Chorrol and being on the western road of the town before falling asleep

Very first time was but a few months ago, when I finally decided to upgrade. The first of the "upgrade" games I picked up of course, and am still playing avidly.

Didnt get killed by a Mudcrab fortunately enough, but did take a bath in the Niben. Made a mage of course, what else is there. Was in awe for some time and didn't know what to do (similarly to Morrowind.) Then looked if anything changed in the system, which wasn't the case. Then did EVERYTHING.

The first time I played was only yesterday :D I've been slow to catch up...

The first thing I did, besides get out of the Imperial City sewers of course, was just wander round trying to take it all in and get some sort of sense of where to go, without following the initial questline. Due to the overwhelmingness of this game, I gave up trying to decide where to head and as soon as I discovered the horses, well, I just went riding, for a long time XD stole one before I realised that you actually don't have to... I've played 11 hours so far, and I'm still totally lost as to where to begin! (And still loving riding around on mah poneh!)

Well; I did the tutorial ofcourse; I still use the same character I made on the very first day. An Imperial assassin. First thing I did once out of the sewers was gasp, and take a nice long swim in Lake Rumare. Then I discovered that ruin right infront of the sewers Vilverin(?) and got killed by two bandits. :P
