Do you think the Suppressor+Silent Footsteps will be the most overused attachement/ability in the game?

I say this cus, well, I know gamers and gamers don't like to light up like Christmas trees when they fire, move or generally stand there picking their nose...ala, just about every COD game out there.

Yes, Brink is not COD but it does have these two features which are absurdely over used in just about every FPS theyre included in.

Along with my question, I just woud like to say I really, really hope theres some sort of balancing act going on between other attachments and abilities that make someone have to really consider slapping on the above mentioned two everytime they play.

EDIT: Maybe suppressors could take up an inventory/ability slot on your D-pad, have to attache and detach it when you want to use it.

Rank 4? Level 5? Whats the difference in ranks and levels? You have to unlock the ability at level 15 and then rank something up to rank 4 I imagine?

Still...eventually most people will get there and then we're back to square one :\.

Rank is used in "matchmaking".

Rank 1: Level 1-4
Rank 2: Level 5-9
Rank 3: Level 10-14
Rank 4: Level 15-19
Rank 5: Level 20

Frankly, the gameplay looks so hectic and fast that unless you're sneaking around you shouldn't generally need to worry that you're making noise.

Any serious competition won't allow certain abilties and attachments, so no point getting used to them.

Ah...you sure your links right? I just get a guy ranting off about how K?D junkies wont beneift. O-o...

Silencers aren't really that useful, especially in competitive play. Probably not very useful in console play either cuz console gamers generally don't wear headphones and have no sense of sound triangulation anyway.

I beg to differ...a lot. Look at every game that has a silencer attachment...save rainbow six, its one of the most used attachements on a gun...even more so then sites sometimes. And its not neccacarily the sound that gives you away as much as the dot on the minimap.

I think it will. The day in MAG that the Sensor Jammer was glitched via patch and gave you 100% cloaking from radars, it literally became a necessity for every single player to own one, and I'll wager its the most widely-used piece of equipment in the entire game to this date (counting weapons and gear). Because so many people used it and were invisible, it began to feel like you needed it too to even be able to compete, or even defend, against them. I can see the same thing happening here.

I know that I for one will use them, but not /that/ often. The muzzle brakes just look too useful. And a silencer only helps when people don't already know where you are. If you're attacking or defending an objective, hiding really isn't an option.

Only time you'll catch me using a silencer is when I'm playing as an operative and seeing that everyone will be busy trying to get lots of kills and ignoring the objectives as they do in every single pub game I'm not going to be an operative very often.

eh...I still lean to the notion they'll be the most used ones. Even if the game is based for team play and obviously everyone's goal is to survive longer....people still hate getting shot at and they love getting the drop on folks. People still love killin more than diein.

*shrugges* I just see folks using them more than not despite what anyone says...I just do :/

Some situations require a little finesse and sneakiness, but us loud hombres will always be the main attraction. :gun: We're the stars, the ones who dare you to sneak a kiss, and in turn, reward your forwardness with bullets. Those that do their business behind unguarded backs should smile brightly that all their faces are upon us so that you may make better of their backsides.

Generally I really don't give out strategies on public forums because while I'm not seriously competitive I do enjoy an edge in certain aspects of the game. With that being said, one must consider how useful the silencer and silent running will really be. In the How to Not Die video it's stated that whenever an enemy sees you, you show up on the radar of the enemy team. Now I don't know about you, but I think most people have the common sense to turn toward the person shooting them whether that person has a silencer or not.
In effect, you can sneak up with silent running and then start to tear into someone with your silencer and you will be completely invisible on the radar, but the moment that person turns towards you it's all for naught because you end up on the radar anyway. How many times do you honestly think you will be able to kill someone before they can even find you? Granted, it will happen occasionally and silent running can definately be useful in simple travel situations in which you don't engage enemies; silent running won't have much use and the silencer will be useless in all but the luckiest of scenarios.
Of course, I'm not telling you how to play. If you feel like spending ability points on the abilities, by all means, have fun playing your way.

if people want to use suppressors and silent footsteps then go ahead but the minimap will probably still give away where they are

I think silent footsteps will be used alot, but not the silencer. Im a fan of silent footsteps but once i start firing i dont care if i show up on the minimap, its too late by that point

When an operative on the enemy team interogates one of your fallen team mates, and with good operatives on the enemy team expect that radar to be going as much as possible.
