lets NOT have six!

Post » Sat Nov 21, 2009 5:41 pm

like seriously I'ma guy I'm playing a game where you kill people and bite their face off! you want romancy stuff! go watch twilight!

like seriously, <this go play/watch/read/eat/... that>> is the most unfortunate clichee I've read in these forums. People don't need you to point them what direction to take if they want something in Tes. They want it in Tes and they are aware they can find it in other games and in real life, and they still want it in Tes.

To answer to your topic, I never longed for six in Tes, but a brothel and some paid pleasure wouldn't hurt at all the atmosphere and/or believability of a fantasy world for me. And no, I'm not talking about anything graphical.

I wouldn't get up in arms if there was occasional raunchy joke here and there. You know, "sixual themes" but no actual six. More so than Oblivion, which was as G-rated as a Disney movie in terms of sixual themes (i.e. there weren't really any).

On the other hand, you get games like Gothic 2 where you get a cinematic cutscene of your character gettin' on with the local lady-of-negotiable-affection. Granted, you do have a dialog choice to avoid the encounter, but still - it's just corny. I know prostitution is "realism" but there are some things from this world that I really would rather my fantasy worlds not stoop to (i.e. forced sixual exploitation of men and women).

Any computer romance would be corny and feel really artificial. I would rather have other non-combat activities, such as an improved blackmarket and underground thieving/smuggling scene; more political scheming, machinations, and plots; mysteries to solve (murder mysteries, and such like Sherlock Holmes style stuff); faction quests and storylines; and in general more personable and unique NPCs that react to my choices in the game world. I'd be happy with more detail for NPC dialog and backgrounds - romancing them isn't a substitute for creative NPCs.

And I don't think the devs could possibly create enough NPCs - both male and female and of different sixual orientations - to accommodate most players who are interested in a romance (though maybe they aren't really picky in the first place if they want a computer-romance to begin with).

EDIT: no graphic six - TES isn't a pormo!

I think six is an important part of bringing a world to life... in more ways than one. But I'm not talking about procreation, you probably already know how that works. No, what I mean is that sixual themes give character to a world, adds depth and interest. I'm not calling for actual six scenes. That would be over the top and totally unnecessary. What I would like is for six to be an obvious part of the world - courtesans, [censored]houses in sleazier parts of town, rumors about certain characters who 'sleep around,' affairs, implied sixual partners... it shouldn't be in your face wherever you look, but it should be present as a subtle undertone.

I find it amazing how backward the media is regarding six and violence. Murder is the ultimate atrocity you can commit against another human being, and something very few people will engage in during their lifetime. six is a necessity for the survival of species, and something that almost everyone will engage in during their lifetime. So why is murder an accepted part of entertainment, with films and games dedicated to it, while six is bound to invoke a media storm wherever it features?

I think this is a valid point, and one with which I agree. Despite its many, many, many flaws, Fable had some interesting immersion aspects -- six was one of them. The player could have children, get V/Ds, etc. I know, I know ES is not like that. But ES is introducing aspects like farming, doing menial jobs -- both which were in the Fable series. I am not asking for a six simulator, but as another point it, insinuating the presence of intimate relationships builds immersion by solidifying relationships between the player and NPCs. It can be done tastefully (maybe) and I think most players would enjoy having it....Hypnotoad commands it!!!!!

I"m not opposed to there being prosttutes or strippers in the more seedy taverns. But I really don't have a desire to be able to hire them. For me, it doesn't fit the game but having them would surely not turn me away from this game. I don't mind nudity either but know that it's presence would prevent many people who would otherwise play this game away from it. The mindset of the USA just doesn't like nudity for some odd reason. I like keeping games like this open to the largest number of people because that spells success on a grander scale and that ensures this series continues and becomes better.

That said, I don't think adding such would improve the game in any way. So I see little reason to add it.

I do love the use of innuendo in TES however. Sometimes those subtle innuendos are much more exciting and interesting than blatant six will ever be to me.

OPINION:

I agree that "a well turned ankle" can often be much more sensual, or seductive than full frontal nudity. Although I am not against "tasteful" nudity. A little eye candy doesn't hurt. As the topic here is six, rather than romance, some do confuse the terms, I find the hint or suggestion of intimacy more erotic than "plumbing shots."

I would see nothing wrong with a little flirting in the game.

A romance option in the style of Ahnassi, where its mostly roleplaying wouldnt be bad.
I also wouldnt mind a house of ill repute such as the house of earthly delights.
But I dont think Id like cut-scenes a la Dragon Age when it comes to the actual act.
I would prefer such things kept for the imagination.

Did you just compare romance to Twilight?

You sure your old enough to even purchase this game yourself.

Also as a game that's a fairly non-linear set narrative they probably weren't planning on optional in depth romances anyways.

And exactly why does six have to be sleezy. If our horny fathers didn't knock up our mothers then no one here would be around today.

I agree though that romance for you personally shouldn't take a huge role.

Of coarse if they do it well and it doesn't cut time from other elements we'd like I have no issue with it.

In my opinion I would prefer sixual themes, though not actions (I play as an Argonian :nope: ). This goes double in a place like Skyrim where there's Nords slicing up dragons on a mountain and returning to their cabins of masculinity to drink profusely. With Skyrim basically being a testosterone festival, it would feel awkward for it to be a place of sterility.

What they did with Fallout should be fine. A few optional fade-to-black encounters wouldn't destroy the game. Although I'm not expecting any cinematic animations going on...

As you may know, many games are letting you "get romantic" with npc's. so do you think skyrim introduce six with companions and prosttutes or keep it out the game? Personally i think six shouldn't be included, and if it is, limit six with only prosttutes, and I'm really only bringing this topic up cause i saw some other topic called "romance" like seriously I'ma guy I'm playing a game where you kill people and bite their face off! you want romancy stuff! go watch twilight!

agreed... well kinda. I think its a cliche and TES doen't need it just because fable and ME has it.

The only well done romances that I've seen come from Bioware games (especially in KOTOR) but all of those romances have room to work because of linear plot structure. I would just as soon not have Bethesda implement romance (or six) in TES.

But what will all those 'Please let me change bust size' and 'I want the chicks to look HOT' types do for kicks? I mean, these lonely folk need to get their rocks off somehow!
Seriously though, six and relationships would ruin TES. And as for Adjustable Boob Sizes and Hot costumes for female NPCs....I mean really? Are these people frickin' real?

You've posted here long enough to remember the screenshot threads of a few years ago, hell I think theres even a TES eyecandy forum? The best feature of TES is its ability to be modded, I have no beef with people who want anime furries with DD's and bowties, but its up to the modders to cater to those crowds, I don't think we ever have to worry about Bethesda doing so.

My last toon a few years back, I rolled a female assassin and didn't want her face to look like an old pair of combat boots, so I downloaded a few face mods which improved her 'looks'. So some of the 'girlie' mods, have their uses I suppose.

So wait, whats all this talk of [censored]s?

hey I am not old enough to buy it, but when skyrim comes out I will only be 1 month away
but really do you think bethesda will have six in one of their games? Oblivion was the most conservative game there was, there was 1 quest that only alluded to six, and in Morrowind you couldnt tell the difference between the men and the wemon
and Fallout NV was developed by Obsidian not bethesda

ahhh whats with the yellow!?!?! burns my eyes...

yeah i think i agree. we don't need six in the game, it doesn't add anything IMO. Virtual six seems... pathetic to me.

insinuating six however is different.

I like this post. Everything from the eye burning, to no six, to the insinuation. :D

I see what you did there.

It's funny because it's true :u

Sarcasm aside OP it's mostly because Bethesda's been able to make good games without making every female character be in their birthday suit just to sell their game. (This doesn't stop all those pedophile mods though.)

I'm sure there'll be more mature themes this time around though not to the extent of morality or human nature as the Fallout franchise.
