Lets Talk Daggerfall - What to do?

Post » Thu Nov 04, 2010 1:04 am

Hey there,

i decided to give Daggerfall a try. I have been a huge fan or Morrowind since it first came out, and have been modding it for the last 3 and a bit years. Daggerfall seems like a lot of fun so i am keen to try it out. What should i expect though? Where to start off? Is it as felexible as morrowind (ie. Can go off the beaten track). How big is daggerfall ( game play wise) i.e are there many quests? Items? dungeons to explore?

I am getting goosebumps just thinking about the game lol.

Best answer is to just jump in! That what I did!

Flexibility, alot more flexible compare to Morrowind. After one do this http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Lady_Brisienna, granted if ya want to do the main quest, ya can do anything ya want afterward!

Size wise, the world is huge, but one should not run around in the wilderness; there is nothing there. Outpost wise, small as to village and huge as in cities.

Quest wise, there are many, but alot generic as well. Meaning, ya will find out that ya will do the same quest again and again, but from different quest giver. Main Quest is still different and Unique the whole way. Oh, and there are time limits in quest. Ya MUST do the quest with the minimal amount of time given (usually like 10-20 day to finish it), but ya will be able to finish the quest within a few days.

Dungeon is a WHOLE another story. Its HUGE! Literally. Ya can actually get lost in the dungeon real fast. Recall helps alot on going back to the entrance if one planted mark there.

lol thanks for the info - i jumped right in as a Dark elf Spellsword heres what happened:

first time: got my butt handed to me by a rat ( didnt know how to look down :P)

second time: beat the rat, killed the bat - got killed by an imp - apprently my weapon was no use......

third time: Killed the rat, got the treasure (missed it the first two times O_o), found the bat - tried casting a spell on it. The spell seemed to have cast but did nothing (perhaps wasnt close enough? It said "press button to cast spell then my spell points went down) - needless to say while i was wondering if the spell worked.....the bat killed me. lol

so fourth time a charm? :hehe:

Ya can config the mouse to look around.

To use shooting spell, I think is after ya cast it, then ya press the "Activate Center Object" button, which I assume the Space bar?

The imp, well you need the ebony dagger that you got during char creation--you did take it right? Hope so because that's the first weapon you'll get until you get out of the dungeon that can hit the imp. Spells are a waste of time on that one though you can run past the imps.

You only need a steel or better weapon (or hand to hand) to hit imps, so you don't need the ebony dagger. Can easily have steel in Privateer's Hold :)

Nah, Steel is fine. My first character got his can handed to him by that imp too, but I didn't get that upset to be honest with you. I had him set up as an Archer, and with no bow in sight, he's kind of lost, lol. I made a Nord, and he's been kicking tail.
