I repeat that again, Anon are a non-organization and thus you can't trust those that hide behind its fa?ade. That's how the hacking scene has worked since the 80s, actually. Some might consider themselves the Robin Hood of the digital era, and some are just in it for the money, while circumstances might drive each of those to the other.

Well, "trust" may be too strong of a word... I was just hoping that who ever in Anon that did this wasn't after personal details.

Microsoft are probably laying low, hoping they don't draw any hacker attention to them as well.

Yeah man, nobody's heard of microsoft. Micro-who? If they don't say anything, why, some hackers may never hear about them!

That is true. According to a friend at the local CCC, showing off the data (as has been done) is mostly to proof that you did it - if you intended to sell it that would be a bad turn. Kind of like taking a bite out of an apple to prove that it is not poisonous, and expecting to sell it for full price after.

PSN Return Delayed, Hackers Publish Stolen Data
Sony on Friday said it would have to further delay the return of PlayStation Network following a massive security breach, just as reports stated hackers posted personal details stolen from a Sony database.

According to Reuters report out of Tokyo, Sony was able to remove those published details from a website, although the report didn't say exactly what website hosted the stolen information.

Personal details of some 2,500 people were posted, including names and "some addresses" that were in a 2001 database. The security breach has affected 77 million PSN and Qriocity accounts, and 24.6 million Sony Online Entertainment accounts.

This is getting even worse when it's supposed to be getting better.

I love it when a few people ruin something fun for everyone else. I don't understand what they are trying to prove here. ok you hacked PSN good for you! now back off. seriously. this is so friggin selfish and stupid.

don't anyone post "welcome to life sport" or anything like that. I know people will do that in life, I just don't understand why they do it. it's sickening.

Who's hating Sony? PSN+ is lousy compensation (not that I really feel entitled to anything). It's like giving your girlfriend a Blockbuster rental on her birthday.

That is a very good anology.

You don't need to understand. You just need to accept and cope with it. Sturgeon's Law and all that.

Actually heard a rumor that the reason they got broken into was due to the fact they were using 64bit encryption technology. Forget where I heard it, but apparently the industry standard is 128 to 256bit encryption technology which is why they got hacked.

Final tests, together with the SOE servers.

Do you have a source, and do you have any idea how long that takes?

Not expecting, just asking. Thank you.

Yea, I just read the article on IGN. They're saying could be the 31st now. Right in time for E3. You know there's no way Sony would go into E3 with the PSN down.

I imagine that simply restoring service is the last thing they'd want to do. I shudder to think of the fallout in the event they re-launch PSN just for this to happen again.

The fallout would be many users go to xbox and sony is trying to make sure this dont happen again when they are back up.

So, the only thing Sony did wrong appears to be their lack of scramble of the data eggs.
