They haven't said anything. For example: they haven't mentioned how this can affect them, etc..

ah, financially, you mean? I imagine SP game sales are up, lol... it's not like they're ignoring it, though. I'm waiting mostly for the Red Faction Armageddon demo, and Volition said as soon as the PSN Store is back up it should be there. Usually they play favourites with MS, but what multi-platform gaming company doesn't these days....

After this mess is all cleared, I hope they do do a good job at encrypting the personal info of their customers.

Hehe, doodoo... :P

A hash function has no inverse though. Where as a function to encrypt data does.
I was not aware of this...

Anyway, I don't understand why people defend Sony on this one. They were irresponsible. Yes, they are one of the victims (along with all the PSN users), but it's they fault they didn't take much better precautions against such a thing happening. Profit is important, but cutting on security, especially when your task is keeping the personal data of millions (is it millions or less?) of users safe, is the rottenest and most irresponsible way to achieve it. This also goes to show why enabling a single object/person/database to hold valuable personal data on so many people is not even remotely a good idea.

Yeah but they are now offering 1million insurance to identity theft per user. Thats a lot of money and it takes guts to actually do it. :slap:

Because in such a crisis, it would likely be considered in poor taste amongst it's investors and the public eye.

I dont think anyone should defend Sony. I just think it is messed up that people would rather criminalize SONY than criminalize the actual criminals.

I hope you don't mean digitally? KZ3 is one of the most massive games in terms of the size of all the data. it would take a very, very long time to download.

I did.

It's not a case of "rather", it's a case of "as well as". Data security is serious business, it's not a joke.

PSN Return Delayed, Hackers Publish Stolen Data
Sony on Friday said it would have to further delay the return of PlayStation Network following a massive security breach, just as reports stated hackers posted personal details stolen from a Sony database.

According to Reuters report out of Tokyo, Sony was able to remove those published details from a website, although the report didn't say exactly what website hosted the stolen information.

Personal details of some 2,500 people were posted, including names and "some addresses" that were in a 2001 database. The security breach has affected 77 million PSN and Qriocity accounts, and 24.6 million Sony Online Entertainment accounts.

As I already said, Anon is a non-group and as such "official" statements by one non-member don't apply to any other non-member.
That's a weird sentence.

Huh. Interesting. Makes me feel a bit better to know that Anonymous was behind this, considering they aren't really after anyones personal information.

I doubt it....I don't even think the second one is up. That would be pretty sweet, though. Have the original Killzone 1 & 2 for download.

Well, that's probably all they got then, were names and addresses. And peoples secret question/answer or whatever.

I repeat that again, Anon are a non-organization and thus you can't trust those that hide behind its fa?ade. That's how the hacking scene has worked since the 80s, actually. Some might consider themselves the Robin Hood of the digital era, and some are just in it for the money, while circumstances might drive each of those to the other.

Microsoft are probably laying low, hoping they don't draw any hacker attention to them as well.
