Letterman/Varsity Jacket.

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 2:14 pm

I got my letterman/vasity jacket back in november and since then the sleeves have slowly been getting this white haze on them making the jacket look 30 years old. The sleeves are 100% leather, and ive never seen leather do that before. I thought about putting some kind of leather conditioner on it but havent tried yet. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you know how i can fix it?

EDIT: also the company that made my jacket is NEFF.

Cheap leather often turns an ugly yellow or white if it gets wet a lot while you're wearing it. Just from washing salt/sweat and such onto it. This usually happens in shoes more than jackets though. Best thing I can suggest is scrubbing it by hand with some saddle soap.

november white haze leather conditioner havent tried yet.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by white haze. I will assume though that the leather is losing its shine. It seems a bit quick to be needing leather softener, but depending on where you live (climate) and the quality of the jacket you may already need it. If it looks dried out or you can see cracks in it, then you should definitely apply leather softener.

Also, water does not bode well for unprotected leather. If you are in a rainy/snowy place then you will need waterproofing. Also be sure to wipe off any water before hanging it up if you have been in the rain.
