Level 65+ and still going strong!

Post » Sun Oct 27, 2013 1:46 pm

I've had my first ever character reach level 67! He's not my Ranger, as his skills are too narrowly focused to reach that high (he's in his 50's right now), but my Dunmer character....not sure what to characterize him as since he is a Master of Destruction* as well as Conjuration where he uses the bound battleaxe as his first weapon of choice and is accompanied by his loyal flame thrall pretty much everywhere he goes. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p117/arkanSTFU/azruk2_zpsff8e17bd.jpg

It still seems like I have so much to do! I've completed the Companions, Thieves Guild, and Mages College quest lines and am about three quests into the Dark Brotherhood line. I am Thane of about half the holds. I have not even touched the main quest line (haven't seen a dragon since Alduin at the beginning of the game). I have Dawnguard and Dragonborn, but have not activated them yet. I plan to do Dawnguard after starting the main quest line to get dragons, and I plan on doing Dragonborn after I finally finish the main quest.

I am still having a lot of fun because there are so many ways I can approach any situation. However, I'm looking to change things up a bit. I'm about to hit 100 in Alteration and I currently have the Atronach Stone active. I have essentially no Armor other than my Ebony Flesh spell, which gets me by in melee due to my high blocking skill, though against groups it can be tough (but that's what Sweep is for, haha!)....I was thinking about changing to the Lord Stone for a bit of extra AR and Magic Resistance. That would give me 180 AR with Ebony Flesh, and 85% Fire Resistance and 40% everything else. I would probably take the Atronach Perk, so I would still be able to absorb some magicka. It would be a balancing act as to not become too powerful.

Again, just looking for ways to change things up a bit. Thoughts?

* I still submit that the only tweak Destruction needed/needs is a Fortify Destruction Damage enchantment. My Firballs currently do about 100 Damage, Incinerates just shy of 150, and Fire Storm does 225 damage (not counting enemies close to me). Nothing survives long enough for me to run out of magicka only wearing Master Robes of Destruction to reduce cost.

Have you done any Daedric quests, Bard's College, or Hearthfire?

I've done some of the Daedric quests....now that I think about it, I think I've only done Boethia's Calling, Malacath, Sanguine, and Azura's, but I'm "in the middle of" Clavicus Vile's quest. I know I haven't done Namira, Mephala (can't until dragons), Molag Bal, Dagon (actually almost completed this one), Hircine, Vaermina, Hermaus, Meridia, Peryite, or Sheogorath...am I missing any?

I have all the items for the Bard's College, but I haven't started doing quests in Solitude, yet.

I've not really had any intention of getting Hearthfire, to be honest.

I'd recommend fetching all the Dragon Shouts. Especially with the DLC benefits from Dragonborn, shouts like Fire Breath are quite a bit more fun. I'd also recommend fetching the DB dragon priest masks if you have that DLC, since they buff destruction magic damage. Other than that, I'd recommend getting some of the high end spells from the ritual spell quests. There's nothing quite like having Orchendor or Ulfric as a thrall.

My plan is that once I have started the main quest and met with the Graybeards, I will make it a goal to find all the word walls that I can, making sure to definitely defeat the dragons at the dragon burial places marked on the map, as well as collect all of the dragon priest masks (since finding that note at Labyrinthian, my character is wondering what power all of the masks might hold).

I've done all the Ritual Spell quests except Restoration (not high enough skill, yet) and Alteration (cause dragons). I much prefer the Flame Thrall as well, she's so cute! Eventually I shall have two!

I love how cute the Flame Atronach is, but there's nothing quite as fun as watching a Dremora Lord cut the head off of your fows. Imagine having two of those things running around, and sitting back and watching.

Yeah, I had that happen with one dremora lord, but that's exactly what I don't want to do, which is just sitting back and watching.

Yes twin souls perk and the Dremora twins, a real force to be reckoned with.

I know you need to harvest dragon scales (heartscales, or something like that) for Tolfdir, but I don't know where to get them besides, well, dragons.

I know what it's like to have a high-level character who didn't do the main quest... my L59 Redguard harbinger did the MQ out to where you kill the dragon by the westerm watchtower... he got it down to a sliver of health, then moved far away while Irileth and the soldiers finished it. Then he scat and never went back. So now there's a dead dragon rotting in the middle of Whiterun. :D

Dragonborn? Pffffft. Who needs it?
