No Level Cap, what about Weapons?

Post » Fri Sep 06, 2013 4:45 am

I haven't played in a while, and just got the final patch/update that allows for "Legendary Skills". While I like the idea of NO LEVEL CAP on my character, what about enemies and weapons/gear? If enemies keep up with my unlimited level, but all of the weapons I create or find remain at level 81, won't I be getting weaker and weaker relative to the increasingly powerful enemies?

The other possibility is that found and created weapons/armor continue to increase with your level. This would be ideal!

Does anyone know how this works?

enemies stop leveling around level 50-69 i think.

Also, Enchanting and Smithing makes the point moot anyway.

As said above, very few enemies level beyond 50. The ones that do are bosses. They won't get any better weapons or armor.

Most Bandit Chiefs at the most will have Nordic Carved weapons and armor.

Thalmor Patrols at most have Glass weaponry and armor.

Draugr have Ebony.

I think that's it.

Ah, thanks, it's been a while. So I'll basically just keep destroying enemies even moreso once I start leveling again, unless I put on legendary difficulty.

As for Echanting and Smithing, I have those maxed as well, but I try not to abuse the system by using the enchanting potion to make smithing clothes way beyond the intended cap, and vice versa.

Even without potions or use of the restoration glitch you can enchant and smith your gear to one and two hit most enemies on Legendary difficulty. I still like both of those professions but I feel you really have to try and go out of your way to not overpower your character with them, which is a shame.

That's where mods come in. On legendary difficulty, level 83, 830 health and I died twice with same sequence. I was hit with a mace and then with a crossbow bolt. My attacks take a while to kill tough enemies but at least I can 1-hit foxes and bunnies. My weapons are 130 base damage. I'm using Higher Level Enemies plus DUEL plus increased spawns. Higher level enemies will have "leaders" in a group that are always leveled to you no matter how high your level is. All enemies now can have perks so the blunt weapons are very dangerous with the ignore armor perk (very OPed, thanks Bethesda) and I'm getting paralyzed every so often thanks to the archer perk. No need to hold back, just install mods.

I have used 4 pieces of 25% smithing and had fully perked alchemy (except the purity perk) and I made a potion.
I equiped the enchanted gear and drank the potion and upgraded my weapons and armour. It still took over 20 hits to kill most enemies.

Really? Keep in mind I'm talking about average monsters but I usually only need a dual wield power attack or two to kill things. My sword and dagger have 62 Absorb Health and 162 Chaos damage. Now my character is only 48 so I haven't fought any of the high level dragons yet but none of the enemies you frequently encounter have put up a fight.

If i am not mistaken, the draugr death overlord is the highest non boss enemy you will encounter in ruins. They start spawning at level 47 or so, if my memory serves. And boy do they spawn, facing 3-4 death overloads shouting + wright overlords that spam frost atronachs and what not lol.

The bosses for most ruins, will be changed to dragon priests that will spam expert destruction spells, along with an expert conjured atronach.

With dawnguard, the highest level enemy you will encounter will be legendary dragons, which start spawning at level 78 (according to the wiki).

With Dragonborn, you have the Ebony Warrior at level 80-81

Try NOT to Op you'r self, one of my profiles hit level 102, and i was just 1-2 hit killing everything with dual steel swords dealing 550+ damage each on master....it gets boring really fast (armour cap was reached with 600 armour to be safe, magic resistance was 80% and elemental as well was in the 70% range). Basically, on master, the only thing that actually caused damage to me were ebony arrows from deathlords. everything else....a walk through the park.

But that profile was me "pushing" everything legit, no glitches, no exploits nothing, pure clean gameplay.

Legit smithing potions will hit 147-149% fortification. 100 alchemy skill and 7 perks.

Legit fortify enchanting will hit around 29% better, no necromage perk and no vampire, 100 enchanting and 8 perks (dead center skill + extra effect for 2 enchantments).

Smithing is kind of clear, you need level 91 with perks to hit legendary without any fortifications.

You'r weapon skills (archery, one handed and two handed), they basically double the damage + some effects. You can hit around 173-280 damage correctly, without any fortify smithing.

Combined with alchemy and enchanting (fortified smithing gear), you will hit the 500+ (if you have 4 pieces to fortify archery/one handed or two handed), could be even in the 1000+ if you work hard.

You either did not have correct perks, enough skill or a mod of sorts that messed things up. I have 3-4 profiles that have this, all legit, no cheats/glitches/exploits, all are more/less the same.

In all honesty, with enough work and dedication, steel weapons and armour will hit the armour cap (567) and deal enough damage. A Steel sword with legendary smithing (100 skill + 2 perks) and 5/5 for one handed in arms man (again 100 skill) deal around 173 damage without any potions or enchanted gear for fortified smithing. A daedric sword will hit around 193 damage, so spending those 5 perk points for daedric for a gain fo 20 more damage......not really worth it.

Beyond that, its just cosmetics really. But when you find some enchanted daedric weapons and armour, that is where the perk for daedric smithing comes in, since you can double the improvement.

If you can, do a recording showing you'r skills and the perks, then hit the grind stone/workbench as well, something is really off with what you are reporting.

As i said, with 100 alchemy and 7 perks (5/5 alchemist + the first 2 perks, one for Physician and one for Benefactor) is all you need in alchemy for max effects (excluding poisions).

Hold on, i just remembered, do you have any fortify alchemy gear???? if you do, that will push you to 147% fortify smithing potions.

Even if you do not, with 100 skill in one handed and 5/5 perks for armsman + 100 smithing you should deal 173 damage from a steel sword. That is before enchanting and alchemy are thrown in the mix.....
