Level 16 - chased by behemoth + giant scorpion

Post » Tue Mar 10, 2015 9:27 pm

I got chased by a behemoth & the giant scorpion @ level 16. funny they didnt fight each other at all but ganged up on me as brothers in arms !. the game ended quiet abruptly hereafter (naturally). this was on level 16 , coming out from Evergreen Mills to a place with overturned train compartments.

question is : why the behemoth and Giant scor did not turn on each other as is the 'normal' cases with > 1 hostile enemies of different species ?

or was it just my lucky day here :) ...or am I playing 'too good' on level 16 and bethesda programmers want to 'test' this player who is carrying 5k in caps , nearly has all the cool weapons(blackhawk, terribleshotgun, licoln repeater etc) and is on a hard mode.

anyone else came into this sticky situation :) ?

My first character that ran into the train wreck behemoth got chassed all over the side of that hill by him and the scorpion. Some exploding cars on the hillside got the scorpion and slowed down the behemoth who was finally killed while playing hide and seek. My second character was better prepared. She made a pile of 26 frag and 6 bottle cap mines and led him to that.

Don’t know why they don’t fight each other. Maybe he behemoth is set to be ignored by other factions.

Good guess. The faction relations between SuperMutantFaction and RadScorpionFaction is "Friend." The SuperMutantFaction is "Enemy" to only these factions: BigTownFaction, BigTownRobots, BrotherhoodSteelFaction, CapitalBuildingTalonFaction, RiellysRangersFaction.

But I think the OP is probably wondering why Bethesda did it this way. To be honest, I don't know. Perhaps they're not enemies because they recognize each other as products of radiation mutation? Perhaps they find common cause in attacking the source of their mutation? Maybe someone else can supply a good lore-based reason.

That's mentioned by Tulip, the Underworld sentry at the Mall. She speculates that's why the Mutants leave the Ghouls alone. Although that wouldn't really make sense in regard to the Scorpions. They're just dumb animals that tend to attack the first things they see.

all right , then this looks fine to me.

I thought I did something stupid here to earn the wrath of these gentle & meek creatures but it seems others have seen this 'bonding' too between the 2 species I mentioned above.
