Level 50 Confirmed

Post » Mon May 24, 2010 5:25 am

Are they [censored] stupid?
Sawyer said on his Formspring thingie that he would not make thing optional cause this isn't Options: The Game.
But Sawyer, you but better [censored] make the game have an optional cap at 35, 30 or 25 or this is a [censored] slap in the face to every RPGamer who wants balance.

But I knew it.
I knew they had to ruin the game somehow.
It's inevitable.
It's like it's a requirement for every developer to ruin their games somehow.

This is cancer in gaming :( .

Just because you can level up even more(being level 2 is no fun), does that mean nothing will be done to enemies? How do you know Vertibird-throwing molerats won't show up to balance it out? Broken Steel increased the level cap, and as we can all remember, it added Feral Ghoul Reavers and Super Mutant Overlords to DC.

Oh god, the Broke Steel enemies werent challenging, they were bullet sponges, you know what happened for me right after i woke up and went on the BS main quest? The entire force of BoS was wiped out by two Albino Radscorpions. They werent balanced to the game, they werent a challenge at all, they just cost ammo.

it added Feral Ghoul Reavers and Super Mutant Overlords to DC.

And they were little more than bullet sponges capable of shrugging off mini-nukes, nuka grenades and dozens of missiles.

Bullet sponges are a lazy, quick fix solution to broken balance.

But they were just bullet sponges. They were nothing special or a worthy reward for leveling up.

Even if they were bullet sponges, they still did something about it. I'm sure Obsidian observed what happened in F3 and I don't think they would make the same mistake twice. I'm sure they will add in more challenging enemies, or even better equipped enemies(Powder Gangers with Grenade machineguns, anybody?) New Vegas took a lot of things from F3 and changed it for the better, such as perks. We get them every 2 levels now. Give them a chance before jumping at their throats. For all we know, it could be that YOU guys are wrong.

Dont get ahead of yourself there. A mini nuke could take out a Super mutant overlord. All of them can be killed by a Mininuke.

pssh. I'm never wrong, ever.

The thing about the better equiped enemies is that we don't have level scaling.

Ohhh no not powder gangers with grenade machineguns and if it's level 50 we will get 25 perks which is almost as much as fo3 with BS it's actually more than fo3 pre dlc (wich i thought was decent balance at level 20 ) and i highly doubt we will be wrong .OHHH here comes bullet sponge bob square pants :whistling: .

Funny that something announced as optional is such a scandal. I would think players would appreciate more formal control over their game. I do.

I'm happy with the option.

I just don't like the fact that they're caving under people's demands. I'm sure Obsidian cared about balance.

Best news I've heard all day. Even better than the release date of Honest Hearts.

For the haters:

You know, you don't have to pursue those levels. But you *should* expect to gain mastery in different skills if you're doing everything there is to do in the game.

Level 50 sure as [censored] is not going to happen accidentally. Hell, level *30* doesn't even happen accidentally. I have to go out of my way to get into the higher levels. I have a couple of characters with which I stick specifically to their conceptual "paths" through the game and they are ready to go fight the Dam battle -- one of them is level 8, the other is level 15. I didn't hunt books. I didn't hunt unique weapons or [censored] I wouldn't use. I didn't help factions I didn't like.

I don't know why people are so quick to condemn this.

Gain XP = Get Stronger.

Much like how weapon "nerfs" aren't done solely because this community was vocal about them, I'm willing to bet that we had very little (if anything) impact when this decision was made.

Anyway, I don't care how many people hate it, because I [censored] LOVE IT!

I'm also guessing that they did it that way so you get some benefit if you just pick and choose your DLC's.

If they want to pull this, we need actually DANGEROUS enemies, not bullet sponges, we need enemies capable of hurting a person without being completely ridiculous.

rpg combat has always been rediculous. Major hit points lead to epic battles. It was hard to stand in there and take a sm overloard without ducking out and taking some stims.

I have no problem with NPC walking tanks. After all I am a walking tank.

I d really like to see Centurions out in the wastes with the weapons they had at the dam mixed with other cl

I hope its not true. If it is, then it is the first thing about New Vegas that makes me super pissed off at Obsidian!

All that work you guys put into trying to give the flawed system some balance and you guys throw all that away! :swear:
