Level 50 Confirmed

Post » Mon May 24, 2010 8:40 am

Ohh yeah i can max each skill twice over yayyy .

If they do it like the originals, (IE: Every point of increase over 100 costs two skill points), than we wont be able to max everything.

If they do a complete overhall of the flawed system and imput the original levelling system then it would be awesome. The ability to go to 300 in skills but it costs more and more XP the higher you go.

Still I doubt that would be the case.

Since that they raised the level cap again, and then created an option to return the level cap to its normality

Can I have more Legion Quest please?
Can I have Marcus as a Companion please?
Can i have Tommy Gun please?
Can I nuke the Strip please?

Have you played Fonv ? It will break the game.Being able to get to 200 in a skill will be a fiasco in FONV.

Here's a quick recap of GSTAFF's leveling info--

Each of the 4 DLCs will add 5 levels to the limit, moving the cap from 30 to 50.

Old World Blues will present a trait that allows the player to cap his levels at 30 or stop leveling if over.

None of the DLCs will allow play after Hoover Dam. Please don't ask again.

Sounds like the devs are really making an attempt to make us all happy. Thanks, Devs!

Dont get ahead of yourself there. A mini nuke could take out a Super mutant overlord. All of them can be killed by a Mininuke.

I hit one with a mini nuke and he took it like a mutated man.

They don t bother me. Makes me laugh when I see "they were not even a challenge" I d like to see everyone s first play through of the presidental metro.

The first time I saw an overlord in nearly beat me to death with a sledge hammer while I was shooting it with a combat shot gun. I had to holster my weapon and run away to take stims or it would have killed me.

First time I saw a reaver it killed my walking tank.

I don t understand the problem with high hp enemies in an rpg.

It has always been that way in rpgs........

How to make it not a fiasco:

1) Like Mako said, it takes up more points to increase it by 1 over 100.
2) Nerf the skill points you get on level-up, I.E. have intelligence less of a factor determining skill points.

#1 works; #2 can work.

It will make things great. The Orignals have it so after a while you start paying 2xp to go up on and then 3xp to go up one and then 4xp to go up one. Something close to that. It might be alot hight then that. So getting to 200 will cost you something like 10xp to go up one.

So it is possible to max at 300 but it will greatly effect your other skills.

It gives the game alot more balance.

this is good news, thanks obsidian.

having the option to stay at level 30 is a great addition. there should be no complaints. it's silly to criticize the way other people want to play.

stronger enemies: i'm always in support of new enemies; while it would be nice to have brand new enemies i would accept weaker enemies replaced with existing, stronger enemies. Instead of one jackal leader and five gang memebers, it would be six jackal leaders.

looking forward to the dlc's.

I hope its not true. If it is, then it is the first thing about New Vegas that makes me super pissed off at Obsidian!

All that work you guys put into trying to give the flawed system some balance and you guys throw all that away! :swear:

It is true Gstaff confirmed it, but It looks like there will be an option to not level. So they made everyone happy in a way.

Flaw: It's in Old World Blues only.

Also, and this is a limitation purely because of how saves work, he says that you'll stay the level you are if you take the trait, I.E. If you have Dead Money, you'll still be at 35, and with Honest Hearts, that'll be 40.

Edit: This is on current saves, not new saves.

yeah look on the first or second page of this thread. Gstaff posted that info. You take a trait to stay at 30 or 35.

Fun fact:

x2 XP at level 40 = 250k XP

Therefore, x100 XP at level 40 = 6.25 million XP

That is about... 100,000 + Deathclaws you have to kill to get to level 40.

Im pretty sure his post said 30 or 35 not 40. I could care less.

I ll level to 50 as long as they put some 1000hp enemies that could down my walking Uber tank. lol

Vanilla Game then Old World Blues Trait = 30
Vanilla Game, Dead Money then Old World Blues Trait = 35
Vanilla Game, Dead Money, Honest Hearts, then Old World Blues Trait = 40

Again, this is dependent on what DLC's one has on an on-going save, not a new save. New save can be limited to 30 once Old World Blues is out, regardless of other DLC's.

Thats about 6.25 million xp more than you should get what a coincidence .

You really aren't getting my point.

It's taken me about 100 hours to get close to 250k XP, if you factor in just the XP requirement increase and nothing else. Therefore, it would take me about 2500 hours to get said 6.25 million XP. The amount of effort given to reach that point, and this is purely hypothetical based on your over-exaggerated #, would equate to nearly 100 + days of straight playing. If you factor in 8 hours of sleep, on average, that would be 133 + days.

Basically, you're underestimating how much time will be needed just from raising the XP needed.

It can be used as a really effective tool to control character progress if given a decent rate.
