Level 3 Crash!

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:37 am

Ok, I'm severely pissed off at my game! I've got TES4 for PC and every time I try to level up to 3, my game crashes! GAAAAAAAH!!! The error report said it had to do with the mod: "oblivion.exe".
Someone help! This severely pisses me off when something like this happens! >:{E}

Post a dxdiag. And are you running any mods? If so list the load order.

I have no idea what a dxdiag is. Here are the mods tho:

Oblivion.esm
Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp
DLCVileLair - Unofficial Patch.esp
DLCThievesDen - Unofficial Patch.esp
DLCBattlehornCastle - Unofficial Patch.esp
Knights - Unofficial Patch.esp
DLCThievesDen - Unofficial Patch - SSSB.esp
DLCHorseArmor - Unofficial Patch.esp
DLCFrostcrag - Unofficial Patch.esp
DLCMehrunesRazor - Unofficial Patch.esp
DLCSpellTomes - Unofficial Patch.esp
DLCOrrery - Unofficial Patch.esp
Lich King's Helm v1_0.esp
New Frostmourne Sword by Jojjo v1_0.esp
Kit Rae Weaponry.esp
Northrend.esp

Oh, and I don't have ANY of the DLC, AT ALL! Some of the meshes for the Northrend mod are in the Shivering Isles expansion and thier missing in Northrend, but I know that's completely normal.

Try deactivating these, they arent doing anything if you dont have the DLC.

Yeh, that wasn't the problem. It still crashes and I think that those were already unchecked, 'cept fer the Oblivion.esm, which I unchecked and tried out.

Hello? Sorry fer the dub-postin' but it wouldn't let me edit, and no one's replying to the frigin' forum, and this problem is severely pissing me off. Sorry if I seem off but I've been having the problem of nobody replying to any of my problems on any forum I post, skipping right over them and goin' to other people's problem's. I'm usually not this unpleasant.

These forums aren't as active as they used to be, and if anyone skipped over your threads, here or elsewhere, it was probably just because they didn't know the answer.

That said, a few things come to mind. First, check your Oblivion.ini in My games/Oblivion. Find the line STrackLevelUpPath= and make sure there's nothing after the '='. It should look like this -

STrackLevelUpPath=

Second, have you been using any mods that affect the levelling process? If so, you may have some leftover files causing problems. Look for a file called levelup_menu.xml in Data\Menus and remove it if it's there.

Yeh, the STrackLevelUp is good, nothing in there. There is, however, a "bTrackLevelUps=1", but i'm thinking that's keeping you from leveling up more than once each level up, right? And by the way, thnx for replying. I didn't realize these forums were so old until I did a bit of research. Sry. ;)

How many saves in your saves folder?

I'll try the bTrack, and I have 2 regular saves and one autosave.

Hey, it wouldn't let me edit again.

The bTrack thing didn't work, should I try deleting the other save?

Delete your oblivion.ini altogether. (you ARE editing the one in My Games\Oblivion, right?)

Yeh, the Oblivion configuration settings under the Oblivion file in My Games. I've been editing that. I can't find this "oblivion.ini" setting you speak of. Is it in the configuration settings? If so, under what sub-heading. The ones I've been editing so far have been under the sub-heading "Gameplay," but I couldn't find it under there.

The file named oblivion, and referred to as "configuration settings" IS the oblivion.ini. You just don't have your machine configured to show file extensions. :D You can simply rename it, if you don't want to delete it, and Oblivion will automagically create a new one. (it will redectect your video card as well... so, you will have to reset all of that, if you changed anything.)
