Level of Gore

Post » Thu May 27, 2010 12:45 am

Whenever I played Fallout, i like running around, and whenever I shot someone, I liked how, a leg would end up 20 feet away from the body, or you could place the head somewhere you thought was funny. I mean, I liked how Oblivion showed blood on your sword and everything, but was kinda hoping that you could cut someones arm off, or if you beat someone with a blunt object, their head would pop. I know they were developed differently from each other, and I'm not saying we should bring any amount of Fallout into TES, that would ruin it. But I just liked games with a very high gore content.

EDIT:
I thought about it, and with seeing how good the engine is, with the quality of the graphics, I'd like to see a Fallout like theme for dismemberment, but maybe a bit more realistic as well. I think it's a tad bit harder to cut someone through the bone than how it was on Fallout.

OB's was fine. I could really care less about the gore, but I don't really want to see heads flying around.

I love gore, so it would only be a plus to me, but if it didn't have any it wouldn't deduct from my enjoyment of the game.

I for one don't find enjoyment is seeing a living creature excessively writhe in pain, etc. Over the top gore is not for me.

The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyim is The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyim is The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyim.
Fallout is Fallout is Fallout.
Oblivion is Oblivion is Oblivion.

LET The Elder Scrolls 5 Skyim be IT'S OWN GAME.

@OP Between Oblivion and normal Fallout. It's TES.

I'd just like it to be completely realistic. I wouldn't want something unrealistic like restricting of 'gore' such as how Oblivion did perhaps, but wouldn't want 'over the top' 'gore' that didn't model reality either because it'd be unrealistic.

Realistic gore, I want dismemberment and decapitation, but they shouldn't be as frequent as in Fallout 3.

Fallout was a little over the top with the gore. somewhere in between would be fine. i would like to be able to target/cut of limbs. you could cut off someones sword arm and stuff like that.

no.. dont want Gore like fallout 3/nv where bullets take of limbs and heads as if a sword cut them down. no no thank you, with arrows that would look all the more silly.

I see a problem with dismemberment; if you allow it for NPC's, how are you going to manage it for the PC? Aside from the fact that decapitation would mean an instant kill, which gets very, very annoying when fighting legions of enemies, how do you handle the mechanic of losing a limb (which you'd probably bleed to death from)? And how to you fix it? It seems a little beyond current Restoration magic to regrow an entire limb perfectly as it was before. And I don't want to go through half the game with a missing or imperfect regrown limb.

Gore is fine but I'd rather be able to injure limbs, or cause an enemy to leave the field of battle for good. Nothing like crippling an enemy to the point where he runs away only to have him come back a few seconds later.

As for dismemberment, well I like the idea. If I critically hit some one in the neck I should be able to decapitate him.

Gore is overrated, and I've seen it become very distracting. I guess it would alright for limbs to come off and some blood--but not some huge mess like freaking FEAR 2 or even Fallout

lol 2nd Gore thread. As stated in a previous thread i don't care. But I do care, if there does happen to be gore, whether or not it's as stupid and unrealistic as Fallout 3. Shot to the head makes all 4 limbs fall off????? :dead:

I would like gore levels to have some sort of realism. Nothing over the top or too grotesque. I think that dismemberments and decapitations should be killing blows. As in something that can only be pulled off once you or your enemy is below and certain percentage of health. Or if the attack is going to kill you or your opponent in one shot, then some bodily destruction. Otherwise, body zone damage is the key. Disabling arms and legs and even torsos to put the opponent at a disadvantage.

I want a reasonable amount of gore. I mean, nothing over the top, but not so little that it's catered to kids. Just go for the M rating and deal with it.

I didn't vote for any of these, because I'd honestly be pretty disappointed if they included a gore system that was as archaic as that seen in Oblivion or FO3. I mean 5 pieces? Seriously? If they include one at all (I hope they do) it should be far more precise, and not always lethal.

I wished that in OB when blood got on your weapon, that it wouldn't fade away in a corny fashion after 5 secs. It would be cool if blood splatters stayed on that item until you repaired that item.

Being a big Fallout fan, I'm still really not into the high amounts of gore in Fallout. Oblivion's gore style is much more realistic and ok to watch without getting sick if you ask me. Although I would like it if blood stayed on your clothes and weapons until you clean or repair them. Just to add realism and a small dose of cool.

Lol I remember in fallout whenever I killed a particularly hard enemy, I'd just sit there for a moment beating the crap out of it until it was reduced to a couple limbs and a torso..

I'd go as far as being able to chop off limbs if it's done well. I don't want to see hitting someone in the face and their leg falling off and I sure don't want to see something as unrealistic as the Bloody Mess perk in Fallout.

What I would like to see are cuts, scars and maybe bruises, corresponding to where you've been hit, and obviously some blood splats from time to time. :)

I'd like decapitation to be pretty bloody rare. Though that may just be because I played a good bit of Fallout 3.

Oh a single 9mm bullet to the forehead? Well it appears to have separated his head at the neck, isn't that curious.

I support maximum devastation as long as it's within reason. A body should be completely destroyed if, say, I throw my most powerful fireball at it, drop them off a cliff, or beat them with a hammer a few times after they've already died. But Fallout was just a little crazy because that could happen with a simple bullet to the leg. Which was a little unnecessary, but I suppose that's the whole charm of Fallout.

My other preference is that you can chop off limbs without the person actually dying. There was that one popular mod for Oblivion (Ugh, what was the name?) that allowed you to chop off a hand or two, and the victim would look down in shock but was otherwise quite alive. You can easily chop a hand off of someone with a sword without killing them. That seems like a funner mechanic than just crippling people like in Fallout. A bullet does minimal structural damage to a body, which is fine because a shot to the leg (shouldn't) make it fall off. But in Skyrim, I plan on running around with the biggest claymore I can find. And when I swing that bad boy at my enemies, I expect things to fall off before they die of a scratch to the knee. Which causes their head to explode, of course.

LOL yeah they should just leave the gore animation the way it was, and plus the arrows shooting through the body and sticking halfway out was cool, but one thing they could add is a bit more blood animation, better splatter effect and a darker crimson color.
