Level 4 Merchants - Any Plan to Fix?

Post » Fri Feb 12, 2016 8:24 am

The title says it all, when I found out about them I started a new game and built a settlement around having them all in one spot, only to find all but the nice lady from the radio station and the vault tec guy never show up (console). Will they ever be fixed?

What's wrong with 'em, other than the one that simply won't show up?

I have found that you really shouldn't have more than one at the same settlement though (except for Vault Tec Guy - he's easy). I had them all at Sanctuary on a prior playthrough and, the were very strange. Now I keep them separated.

My doctor lady disappeared long time ago, and I sent the Barney(?) guy to red rocket TWICE and he never made it there. Lol

Never met scribe or smiling dude... hopefully in time, but I don`t expect any of them to make it to my town. Lol

Vault-tec guy & Radio station lady seem to cause no problem for anybody though. I`ve never seen anyone saying these two didn`t make it to the destination.

So far, I have Vault-tec guy, Radio lady, Tina successfully made it to my settlements.

Almost all of the Level 4 merchants disappear and never make it to settlements. I have only one, Trader Rylee. She is about the only one I know that will stick around, but many say she randomly will disappear to never return also. They are broken completely and if you get the scribe or smiling larry, without console commands they will be gone forever.

Vault tec guy and radio lady work, but also don't have much special. I have found doc Anderson, the chef, and the scribe, but the first two never "finish up here", they just sit by the fire and wander in a small circle forever, and the scribe vanished before my eyes while I was following him. Maybe he's an alien? Or a ghost.

they are pretty much all bugged, there are many many many bugs associated with them

the level 4 randomly wandering traders all have a very high chance of disappearing, they may disappear on route to settlement or they may turn up get assigned fine and look like everythings good but then disappear they get loaded into an invisible test cell

they can also actually never move from their original location once hired so will never turn up at settlement but will still take up a slot

trader rylee also gets teleported into the test cell thus disappearing on route or after she has turned up

ron staples has his special level 4 loot assigned incorrectly so that the game checks if hes at a trading emporium rather than the restaurant he is supposed to be level4 for

scribe can simply vanish after a certain amount of game time no matter what

vault 81 guy (colt?) has no speciality store assigned to him and therefor wont have any different items, tina deluca does have one assigned though even though she is not a "merchant" probably mixed up files there

vault tec guy works fine usually but also has a chance to disappear, he did in my game but i had a save in goodneighbour right by him so i reloiaded and he worked fine, but there are many bugs associated with him

anne seems to work perfectly fine except her inventory is bugged and she wont sell anything different from a normal settler assigned to clothing shop nor more quantity. she actually seems to be the most sable of them except for well she doesnt offer anything apart from having a name

What's wrong is they're broken and they aren't in the game for many people

Really hope there are plans to fix this. Only the Vault Tec Rep and Anne will show up at settlements so far.

Doc Anderson will accept coming to work for me and my settlements' population/happiness will reflect that for a few minutes. However, she never shows up and the population/happiness will drop right back down.

Rylee won't even acknowledge the offer. The conversation just drops and when I try to talk to her again I only get normal trader options.

I haven't run into the others just yet, but I doubt they will be any different. Hopefully Holt and Tina De Luca will be fixed as well.

Just got Doc to accept and she never shows up.

VT Rep and Anne are the only other ones I even had an option to use.

Other than Anne and the Vault Tec rep, I have no idea how anyone has ever managed to get any of them to work.

The sheer number of bugs that permanently break Level 4 traders is staggering. Getting one of the broken ones to work would be like winning the lottery.

I have tested the hired lvl 4 merchants. I had to find the last one, Ron Staples, restaurant lvl 4. While trying to find him I could notice that some of the same spawns locations (specially campfires), you could find Dr. Anderson and Rylee. Meaning, if you happens to walk by/close to certain spawns locations, some hired traders you already got in your settlement, they dissapear from settlement and rather spawns elsewhere. Btw, Ron Staples is bugged. Sometimes you cannot hire him even you have enough settlers. Holt Combes I have no clue about, maybe I missed him earlier and did the quest wrong, I cannot hire him. If hired traders dissapear, they spawns elsewhere and if you don't find them fast enough, they can die. So they who play on PC should >setessential [base ID] 1 asap.

What I would do if I did made the lvl 4 merchants thingie, first of all, essential. They should not spawn, but rather have a route they follow from a to b to c (if needed) and return back to a. In that way, you will be sure that they don't dissapear and spawn elsewhere. They don't die either, but could be stuck in gun shooting somewhere. If you happens not to have the minimum numbers of settlers, you cannot hire them, but you need to talk to them later when you have.

I may add, there is no right to have lvl 4 merchants, it's about how lucky you are when you pass by these spawns locations, but if you do it this way, you better be sure that things works as they should. Players happy when they got some of the traders, but day after, they are gone. So yes, they should be fixed -everyone- because PC users can use game commands to fix, console players cannot.

Cheers,

the main issue with them spawning somewhere else and dying is they get spawned into a test cell

there is also a character "ness" i think shes the npc who gives you the quest about the smuggled cargo? anyways if she gets spawned in the test cell she becomes hostile and can kill any of the traders who end up there

Yes, youre correct. Been into that test cell many times. I had a save game very early in the game and I use this to enter the test cell to see who are present vs enter test cell later in the game and see who is missing. I did the quest with Ness and she is not in the game anymore for some reasons :-) As for the record, I cannot spawn the dog seller correct for testing, if he is not present in_game, his ref ID not working. Last time I went to test cell, there are weapons on the floor, meaning someone had died.

Cheers,

I could always get Trader Rylee, Mr. Vault-Tec, and Ann Hargraves just fine. I just can't even get any of the random encounter merchants to spawn - in almost all of my characters I encounter one early on in the game (before I've built up enough settlements to recruit them) and then never see one again.
