Level Scaling and amount of enemies

Post » Sat Dec 21, 2013 6:44 am

I have been wondering about the general consensus about level scaling and I'm hoping this poll will clear that out.

I understand that some find it irritating when they never seen to progress, although others find that it keeps them from getting over powered.

So the question is, how would you have preferred that it be expressed?

I like Level Scaling when it's done right but I don't want it done the entire game. I believe that there needs to be a point where it starts and it ends. I like ranged scaling, have some areas scale a certain amount of levels and then cap it at a certain point. Skyrim's scaling is ok and much better then Oblivion but item scaling is still broken. You will never get great items at low levels and it is the biggest problem with Skyrim's scaling when it comes to chests.

Enemy scaling is fine, although there should be more enemies that start at a higher level.

Enemy scaling could be good, but it's a little out of whack. From one level to the next a bandit chief might gain a couple hundred health if that level happened to be the scaling point.

I think level scaling is absolutely essential. But I would much rather face one opponent who is "smart" than 100 with higher hitpoints or greater damage output.

I think there should be some enemies that scale with you.

More or less agree with this.

On Skyrim's loot scaling: I think what makes this really bad is crafting. It's not just that sometimes you fight through a tough area and you get a mediocre reward. It's that you can make a better reward before you've even fought through the tough area. That's a pretty broken system, to my mind.

I have no idea what to choose for the answer I can't make my mind up about those choices so I will just say this.

I don't like level scaling in video games and never want to see level scaling in future video games developed by Bethesda Game Studios that get released and sold.
