Level 30....Should I wait and stop killing?

Post » Sat Nov 22, 2008 4:41 pm

Is there some add-on coming anytime soon that would would raise the lev. 30 cap? If so should I put my mayhem on hold and stop the mindless violence and keen solving of quests? I wouldn't want to make killable things/ solvable quests extinct and slow my rise to the higher levels.

Also what's this I hear about a level 35?

If you are on 360 then there is already DLC which increases the cap. PS3/PC will have to wait abit.

Otherwise I recommend starting a new character. Play a different role, help someone else this time. Build a huge dragon out of Dinky the dinosaurs.

Can you really do this?

With enough time and extreme patience, I wouldn't be surprised.

Why would the level cap stop you from playing the game? You can still do the quests, you can still finish the game and you can still kill or not kill whomever you want (other than the one)

To me the game is finished when there are no more quests for my current character to do. Sometimes that is at level 20, sometimes that is at level 30. Some characters have been retired at level 5, but they were not worthy.

I dont mean sell the game back to Gamestop, I mean focusing on another game for a while until they come out with a level cap raiser. That way it wont feel so absolutely pointless to kill animals or people with no good equipment.

If you feel it's pointless to play the game without leveling up then maybe it isn't for you.
The current level cap is already too powerful, and the +5 with Dead Money didn't exactly help.
So yes, you will likely get Dead Money later and it will raise it by +5, but that's about it.
(Oh, and I went from 30 to 34 by completing the DLC so... It "really" didn't help to raised that damn cap.)

This.

There are games where leveling is the motivation, this isn't supposed to be one of them. But...well...I do kinda understand. Many games over the years have kind of trained a lot of us to sit up/roll over when the bell goes 'ding.' Try to fight it...there's no reason to stop playing NV just because there's no more bell. Enjoy the story, enjoy the quests...replay the game with different tactics....and when there are add-ons, either start a new game or just take one of your lvl 30 chr. that you finished with and run it through the new content then.

Just make a Major Game Save if you feel that way and then load it later.

I hit Level 30 a long time ago and am quite glad I don't have to think about XP or that level up screen anymore. Now I can enjoy doing all the rest of the quests.

Hehe...folks on the PC were able to remove the cap a couple of days after the game was released...:P

Anyway, yeah, I don't mind hitting the cap. There's a lot to do besides leveling up.

I just entered the strip, I'm level 17 or so. I thought about waiting longer, but personally the story and doing quests intrigues me much more than just level grinding. Sure, I love stat maxing, and almost all of my perks from leveling have been dedicated to Intense Training so I can get my S.P.E.C.I.A.L near maxed, but knowing there is a level cap and a limit to what my stats can get to is kind of nice. I think it makes the game a little more strategic. Especially since I am playing on hardcoe mode.
