level 5 sneak worth it?

Post » Wed Feb 17, 2016 5:21 am

Hey Guys,

I'm playing an Agent 47 sneak build.

I use the deliverer 95% of the time with the Overseer's Guardian set up as a sniper rifle as back up.

As I am usually up close and personal for my kills I am wondering whether the level 5 sneak would be worth it - thoughts?

Basically makes you go from [DANGER] to [CAUTION] in an instant if you distant yourself well enough from an enemy that has spotted you.

Personally, I don't think it's worth it. Waiting a little while longer to go back to undetected isn't that dreadful, if at all.

Better to improve on not getting detected in the first place.

It's situationally useful, but I'd give it lower priority until later in your build. Having taken it two games in a row, I can count on one hand the number of times that I've noticed it work in a situation where it was significantly helpful.

I've never used it. Rank four already makes you damn near impossible to see, unless you're directly in front of an enemy in broad daylight. It also helps to find the covert manuals.

I usually don't even bother with the last level, I'm pretty much a ghost after level 4 with the majority of the covert manuals in my possession.

No. Not really worth the point in my opinion. Although, It could come in handy on survival difficulty... Those densely populated SM bases can be a pain in the ass once you've made your presence known!

To be fair though, I haven't taken any perks in Ninja, Mister Sandman or Deacon just yet... I'm trying to level up to 35(ish), so I can save my game and take all those perks at once without error. If you take them in the 'wrong' order you won't get the 6.3 max multiplier for sneak attacks.

The struggles of having a low armor sneak PC, survival setting, and no steath damage perks, might somewhat be clouding my opinion on the last sneak perk... because clearing out West Everett Estates last night at lvl 14 made me wish I had it ;)

But, I'm guessing by the time it's unlocked I'll no longer wish I had it. That's why I say, no. Not worth it.

Oh yeah why bother taking the last perk? You might never level up again! Points are so precious.

Seriously though, is it because you don't like sneaking effectively or are you really that stingy with an infinite resource? Are you guys trying to brag?

I can't even blame the bs in the forum on kids because the median age is like 40.

Yeah Dark Star I got stung on the multiplier only ended up with 5.4! Sent some feedback to Bethesda hopefully if enough people complain they will patch it.

Rock on guys

No. And usually at this level you are*, I've got all the perks that I need.

I have 5 leftover, and I will not spend any. When the DLC's coming out with brand new perks, I can try them instantly. Maybe you want to do the same.

* the guy is playing Agent 47 and not was in level 47 lol lol lol sorry for the confusion.

What if they only add Event acquired perks? lol

I`d say chance is 50/50 for any perk to be added to our perk chart.

It's a possibility. Because the chat seems totally closed, the way it is structured.

If so, I give a lift to my strength, to be able to carry more crap = p

yes if you get it wrong you get a lower overall multiplier but theres no need to save them all and do at once

Ninja 3, Cloak, Sandman 3 = 6.3x

Ninja 3, Sandman 3, Cloak = 6.3x

Cloak, Sandman 3, Ninja 3 = 6.3x

Sandman 3, Cloak, Ninja 3 = 6.3x

other combinations net you a lower multiplier

i go the ninja 3 sandman 3 cloak and dagger route

i level up ninja and sandman whenever i want and can just making sure when im ready for level 3 i pick ninja BEFORE sandman and its golden, i always get deacons perk last

there really is no need to wait to do all at once and miss out on all that bonus sneak attack

i only go up to rank 3, can't stand the easy button bypassing of Enemy Mines.

augment armor with stealth/muffle if needed. Higher Agility also helps bunches.

People make decisions about how to spend their points. Some people took it, some didn't. Why get so upset because other people made a different choice than you?

Sneak rank 5 is not required to sneak effectively.

How on earth does the way someone else spends their points personally short-change you? In what way are you even effected at all?

Can you quote someone bragging?

I didn't see anyone who answered before you acting like a kid, but I did see you getting inexplicably angry over someone asking for others' thoughts in a forum.

Good lord, is this actually glitched? You have to grab these in a specific order? I'm only using Sandman and Ninja, but I'm just ranking them up whenever it's convenient. I know I picked Ninja first before taking Sandman, but I think I may have leveled up Sandman rank 2 before leveling up Ninja. Did I screw myself?

I picked it up because I wanted my guy as stealthy as possible. It might not be needed but I personally dont hink it's a waste for one skill point if youre the type that is squishy and needs to retreat when necessary. I like it because I like messing with NPC's sometimes lol When I'm traveling I sometimes shoot at them and miss on purpose to make them fight something else.

I'm just amazed that someone asked for advice and 3 of you gave the same stupid answer. If you have access to it you should take it, it's a no brainer.

No. You should be fine, as long as you haven't taken the 3rd ranks/deacons perk out of order.

For example: According to the OP, taking Deacons perk, Ninja 3, then Mr Sandman 3, will result in less than max dmg for sneak attacks.

At the end of my first playthrough I was maxed out at 5.9x. I've also heard reports of people maxing out at 5.3x.

I only assigned the first rank.

Going less and less noisy is great. But when I read I won't be tripping any floor trap, that's just going to remove the challenge.

It's useful, yes, but I think there are other perks that are far more useful for a sneak build. It's obviously worth getting sooner or later, but I generally wait until a little later on.

no you are fine, its only the level 3 ranks you have to worry about

when you go for the level 3 rank of each just make sure you CHOOSE LEVEL 3 NINJA BEFORE LEVEL 3 SANDAMAN

This is actually one reason I put off getting some of the ranks in the sneak perk for so long. Sneaking always ends up being a ridiculously powerful play style in Bethesda games and I like to keep it as challenging (or what I consider, fun) as possible. Wasn't too fond of rank 2 and 3 because it took the fun of traps out of the game. I eventually got them however and just got over it, but never got to rank 4. Tested the perk out multiple times in comparison to not having it and didn't like it. I actually enjoyed keeping an eye on my movement speed to remain undetected.

And it's great to have that mini heart attack after tripping a trap and see grenade icon(s) on the screen.

That "Fudge...." moment can't be missed. LOL.
