leveled items/quest rewards.

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 7:33 am

I know nore than a couple things in oblivion were messed up in terms of leveled quest rewards some were out of place and such and I just want to remind bethesda to hecto check them all in this game and offer a suggestion for dlc ones.

For dlc please do not set items to bet a set level when you load up game with dlc make it so that when you start the quest the level you are when you start or finish it determines the items lev.
Its frustrating having to delete my dlc and make new character everytime I wanna get the best version escpecially when I make multiple chars.

Oh and allow us to transfer saves between profiles I used to play on 20+ offline profiles and occasionaly move saves around when I wanted to play on my live profile mainly I bring this up because after getting my xbox fixed (rrod) my dlc wouldnt work offline so my 20+ chars each with 30+ saves each wouldnt load unless I manually shuffled saves in and out of my xboxlive and offline profiles (very tedious) also I noticed I couldnt use that method in the 2 fallout games I have so yeah its frustrating just dont make Skyrim as tedious as fallout its one thing timing char levels to oblivions leveled reward mix ups its another worrying about every little thing I need leveled for perks in fallout(pain in the bum).
Anyway just reminding you and pointing out a few things I liked and disliked in your games which I think should be addressed/answered.

PS put in way more easter eggs in, morrowind had some great ones, oblivion meh the only great ones were in shivering isles (my opinion). Oh and please release some pics of the different beards if possible I'm hoping for some viking/gimli/gandalf worthy facial hair lol.

How about no leveled loot and we call it a day?

I am no fan of leveled loot or NPC's. If the chest has 50 gold in it then that's what it has; it should not magically get more for my PC being a higher level, nor should the dagger in it suddenly be Daedric instead of base metal.

*But then... I would just consider it likely/plausible (rather than being a waste), if I had the PC fight through an infested dungeon to a strong-box guarded by respawning undead, only to find the box empty; looted out decades before, and the undead still guarding it.

The only leveled quest rewards I would accept are the small sidequests that only give out gold, and increase due to level.

Usually these quests are small so thats as much leveling as I would really want.

But all in all I really don't want the miller to give me 500gp for finding his shoes. Well ok in real life that would be pretty nice of him.

So once a container is empty you don't think anyone will ever use it again in the future to stash something else? Ummm....

Same with caves that I clear out. I would imagine if I clean out a bunch of thugs unless I stay there to protect it some other gang might also find it a nice place to hole up after a spell. It bothers me when a perfectly good hideout is never ever inhabited by another.

No leveled items. Period.

As for NPCs, I wouldn't mind if they weren't leveled at all, unless the game needs to spawn more sometime after you clear them.

There's nothing wrong with having some areas patrolled by strong bandits from the get-go, but seeing every rag-tag brigand busting out a glass armor after lvl 20 sure is annoying.

I would love weapons/armor that leveled up with you, I hate doing quests at low levels getting the rewards and having to stow them away, because they are so weak

Honestly... not really. I'm just not a fan of respawning in general. It was something I just hated in Doom. I can accept rising undead, but not restocked chests in the tomb; (certainly not within the month).

I will agree that was not a good move. But I never minded in MW when I cleared a cave of skeletons and later would go back to find it inhabited by higher level creatures. Rather it bothered me having some that would never have another soul in it.

And it never bothered me if I emptied a chest and later found higher level loot in it as I always just figured a good hiding place for one would be a good hiding place for another.

But yeah, I can't see every bandit having what should be difficult to find rare armor just because I leveled up a bit. That was just too much for me.

They could have sold their gear and bought a house.

I'll agree wholeheartedly with this. As ideas go, leveled loot rates at about the same level as screen doors on submarines.

Yep, but you know...I always wanted to live in a cave for a while. I just might sell my house and do that. Take my china with me. :P

uh imo terrible idea how about no leveling items at all ? but the problem is if a chest had a high lvl item you would be able to obtain it at any level :/

I'm with only slight item leveling. Not at all like Oblivion, but maybe just something very subtle, such as the chance of certain quality items changing by one percent every ten levels, so as an example:
At level one the dagger might be:
55% Iron
30% Steel
10% Silver
3.3% Dwemer
1% Glass
0.5% Ebony
0.2% Daedric

And then at level 20:
51% Iron
26% Steel
10% Silver
5.3% Dwemer
3% Glass
2.5% Ebony
2.2% Daedric

This way, it wouldn't be as stupid as Oblivions leveling, but still slightly there. And to anyone who would say it, in Morrowind, you did not find a daedric weapon at level 1, because that weapon is being wielded by someone who will own you with it, or its guarded by some pretty tough guys. I'm completely fine with no leveling, but I don't think that will be the case.

Yeah, but then there would never be the thrill of finding something better. You would get a good weapon at the beginning, and stick with it throughout the game.
