Leveling up tip for magicka skills (spoilerish)

Thought I'd share what I've started doing to level up my magicka skills (alteration, illustion, ..., but not enchant) more quickly. You might consider it cheesy and power gaming; I agree. Certainly, I feel guilty doing so at times  But it is something that the game allows and can be rationalzed. It boils down to the advice given at the start to practice your skills (Arille). It is something that any char can do. It just requires that you are willing to do this rather than pay a trainer. I don't use trainers much, so this fit with my play style. Have fun and Happy New Year.

Spoiler
These are some spells that have low magicka cost and can be bought off the shelf from sellers of spells in the major towns. None require customized spellmaking, but you can do that too if you want.

The trick is that you can cast touch and target spells whether or not you are in a fight; the game still recognizes that you are improving your skill when the spell is cast. From a gaming perspective, my strategy is to buy a spell that doesn't use a lot of magicka to cast so as to train your skill at your convenience rather than only during battle and maximize the number of times you can cast that spell before depleting your magicka reserve. In practice, before I sleep I repeatedly cast a spell till I'm out of magicka. If you have a magicka regen mod installed, then you can do this more frequently. And if you have the Atronach birth sign, then camp out in front of a shrine or healing altar.
