Leveling too fast?

Post » Wed Oct 19, 2011 10:25 pm

If I have one chief concern about the game, it is the thought that with all the skills contributing to level up and the stones making that process 30% or so faster, will I be hitting that max level before I really want to. (I know the stones are optional) Now when the game is out it may be that the whole process takes longer than it appears in any of the videos, I don't know. But do you think the process has been so streamlined that the leveling process might be just a little too easy?

P.S. I still love Skyrim and will certainly be getting it. Mainly because I've already paid for my copy. :celebration:

I've made it to lvl 7 in 30 minutes. It's kinda fast, but once I get this dragon beat I'll let you know for sure.

- Don't activate a guardian stone
- Play a jack of all trades character to slow down experience gains per skill increase
- Plan to go all the way up to the maximum ~70 level
- Use a mod to slow down leveling

I believe they took that into consideration. If my memory serves me well, I believe I heard that each level that you hit, it will take longer to the next level. After you reach lvl 50, you can still get to lvl 75 but will take you a very long time. Hope this helped

Like I stated above, I know the stones are optional.

One of the previews said level 5 in 3 hours.. We should be fine.

K, so choose one of the other three options?

Won't have an opinion until I've played Skryim. Ask me in December.

-Not a bad idea, they do build up as you go on not using them right?
-Mastering each skill, I don't have that patience at all
-What method do you think for a console player is best?
-Not a pc gamer

I had honestly forgotten that. And Kudos for one of the more original Avatars I have seen around here. I always did like Kermits "angry" look.

Early on, you level fast. Later on, you level slow. Just like in real life.

Afraid I'll be too busy playing. And hopefully I'll know by that point.

on the flipside, the leveling system doesn't "punish" a player for not maxing enough governed skills for the +5 boost. Really, the player needs all the perks he can get.

Like they said above, leveling might feel linear and gradually slower until lvl 50. And then the exp curve hits us like a giraffe covered in honey.

-Huh? The stones build up? Or the skills build up? AFAIK all the stones do is make your skills increase faster, and that each of the 13 different stones affects a different set of 6 skills.
-Jack of all trades doesn't necessarily mean mastering all skills. That said I think it's pretty likely that you won't even reach level 50 if you only focus on a small set of skills.
-Not sure what you're asking here either... Going to level 50 vs 70? I don't know what you're asking, or why it makes a difference if you're on console.
-Then be happy with the game as it is. Not trying to sound like an "elitist," but you're playing on a one-size-fits-all device - you get one-size-fits-all games.

Well if you remember correctly certain skills could get more than a 30% increase rate in Oblivion(All comes down to class baby!), so actually you're trading about ~15% experience bonus on some core abilities for every skill contributing to leveling and a small set of them leveling 30% faster which is a good trade I think.

Need more info, but from what I have seen we'll be leveling from 1 to 10 fast, but from 30 to 40 much, much slower.

Also there are more than 3 stones, there's only the 3 that increase skill XP rate.

The guys who did the speed run finished in 2 hours 15 mins at level 4 if that tells you anything. Assuming it's a linear progression to level 50 that would be 28 hours, 7 minutes and 30 seconds. Of course we all know it's not a linear progression. It gets more difficult to gain levels the higher your level is.

If that is so then that would be cool. I just didn't want to sit down one day and "Shazam" I've gained ten levels out of no where. I love my games to take a very long time. Probably why I'm still playing Oblivion, RDR and Saints Row 2.

Where was it stated that the other 10 wouldn't affect the skill xp rate? I'd just figured that they gave each of the 13 birthsigns a different set of 6 skills.
