Levelled Uniques

Post » Fri May 25, 2012 3:19 pm

Does anyone know at what scale items level? As an example, what level would I need to be at to get the best version of Dragonsbane? Dawnbreaker? Nightingale Bow? Does anyone know how those are tiered out?

Items in Skyrim don't scale with your player's level as far as i'm aware.

Instead, items scale with your corresponding skill. For example:

Random one-handed weapon does 10 damage. (Your one-handed skill is 15). Random piece of light armor gauntlets has 8 armor. (Light Armor skill is 20)
THEN
Random one-handed weapon does 20 damage. (Your one-handed skill is 25). Random piece of light armor gauntlets has 12 armor. (Light Armor skill is 27)

This is purely hypothetical and in no way is accurate of a weapons damage or a piece of armors armor value in relation with skill level - i just purely made it up to demonstrate my point.

If you get Dawnbreaker at level 1 or if you get Dawnbreaker at level 20 - it has no difference on the damage of the weapon. The only thing that plays a factor on Dawnbreaker's damage is your one-handed skill level, and even then, Dawnbreaker's damage adjusts/scales for one-handed skill increase. So basically your weapon's damage will be increasing the entire game - until that corresponding skill is maxed out.

My understanding was the enchantment levelled on a select few uniques.

No the gear don't level up with you if that's what you had in mind...

But quest rewards do scale with level when you receive them. For example Nightingale armor will be much more powerful if you get it at level 50 than if you get it at level 10. Also if you get it at level 10 there's no way to get the level 50 ever (it will not scale up as you level)...
in other words... don't do thieves guild quests at low level :P

I

WRONG. horribly wrong here.

there are a few leveled items. not as much as oblivion gladly but they are there. dragonsbane is one of them. and no its based on your LEVEL. not your skill. tested it. its 100% sure.

you need to be lvl 50 in skyrim. then you will get the "best" version of every leveled item there is.

dawnbreaker does not scale at all like all deadric artifacts. they get stronger with your weapon skill yes but that was already the case in oblivion.

the items that are acutally leveled and NEVER reach thier full power if gotten to early are already listed here :

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Leveled_Items

the robes in this list dont count really. they are not really leveled items. be the above ones are ALL leveled like in oblivion. yes they did that same crap again this time. but with only a few items gladly. level scaling is already bad. leveled unique rewards are even more bad since they FORCE you to wait with certain quests like the thiefsguild armor.

Is level 50 right? Darn I thought it was level 40. Oh well I guess I don't need all the best stuff.

I'm pretty sure it's lvl 41 to get the best of the tiered/leveled items.

Most of the leveled items have 5 tiers. Tier 1 would be lvls 1-10, Tier 2 lvls 11-20, etc.. The top tier would be lvls 41-50.

Anyone know of a list of the quests related to these unique leveled items? Also, at what point is it locked in what level your item scale with? When you are given it or when you first accept the quest?

Shameless bump. This has been eating at me since the climb to 50 has been a slow one.

I dunno why they did this dumb ass move it not like the better versions would break the game at lower levels, the only super powerful enchantments are the resistance ones really and guess what they are equally powerful for a lvl one as a lvl one million character so dont really need to scale.

Personally I am going to use the console to get the best versions of these dumb items.

damn, I knew getting the pale blade at like level 8 would screw me.

if weapons with no quest, just unique are in a dungeon, dungeon shouldn't scale so low IMO:/

the pale balde is actually crap. does not really matter believe me. theres just nothing special about this thing at all.

the GOOD leveled items come from the thieves guild quests (nightingale items and chillrend) and the mainquest (dragonsbane)
these are the only ones you really could care about. the other ones are just normal ancient nord sword with crap entchants. you can make better ones by yourself.

I have no problem with levelled items, they could potentially be fairly game-breaking at low levels if you managed to glitch your way to something way before you should, but I do think the Uniques should level up along with you so that there's no penalty for getting them early - I think there's something nice about having them grow along with you.

Or, potentially allow them to level up independently through use.

I'm sure someone could certainly knock up a mod to automatically delete your current versions and gift you the higher lvl versions when you level past the breakpoints. I'm sure I remember having a mod in Oblivion that did just that - when you hit level 11 it would remove all your levelled uniques and gift you the 11-20 versions.

This doesn't list the levels at which the better versions appear, but at least it gives you something to go on.

Yeah leveled quest rewards are definitely the svck. If you're on PC just console yourself the best version when you get it, though usually you have something better anyway 'cause blacksmithing vs the power level of artifacts/quest rewards is broken.

I believe I got the highest version of Nightingale armor in the ~35ish range. Could have been as low as 32. I didn't get the highest level Nightingale bow however which you recieve in a later step in the Thieves questline. So each item has a different cutoff.

They should just ditch level scaling. Did they not take the hint from Oblivion.

Well, I can tell you that I got level 4 Chillrend at 38. Doesn't answer your question I know but it's the best I can do. Once I found out about levelled items I gave myself the highest level version and dropped the other one in the ocean and never looked back (I'm level 53 now). Had I known sooner I would have put off the quest.

I don't know the tiers.

I always just use the console to give myself the best version, because leveled gear is BS.
