levelling up alchemy.. using giant toe's rare?

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 1:38 am

Hello,

Question! I read somewhere the best way for leveling up alchemy is using weat in combo with giant toe's. Those toe's at-least I did find only one vendor selling them once a while, are rare. I could farm them from the giants of-course but wont that somehow mess up quests who are given by the Jarl (work orders or how is it called which you collect from inns?)?

thanks for reading or answering this!

Giants respawn. Actually the most expensive potion uses jarrin root but you only get that through quest.

Not sure on respawn time on giants though I'll go look it up.

All cleared areas respawn after 20 - 30 days.

You can boost alchemy even faster with Giant toes + Blue mountain flowers + Blue butterfly wings.

Ectoplasm, glow dust, jarring root is best one.

After this one next up is creep cluster, glowing mushroom and giants toe.

All potions level you up, however the higher the sales value the higher impact.
Giant toes are nice so always buy them, or kill bandits however as you buy and gather ingredients you find way more of other stuff.
Focus on fortify skills and resist or weaknesses, not heal or damage. make 3 ingredient potions if that double the price.
Experiment of making an potion with two ingredients and then add other you have a lot of to find new effects.

I have a website that you can either list all ingredients and it will list them in value.

You can also input you own ingediants and it will give you all possible potions, if you want it let me know.

Giant's Toe + Swamp Fungal Pod + Wheat

I call it the money potion. More valuable than anything else I've made (to include what has already been posted here - except Jarrin root one - haven't found any of that yet.) Strictly for selling and not using. The negatives are too bad for me, the positives too good for them.

Interesting because the three don't mix on table. Giants toe and Wheat are 650 then swamp fungal must give it bonus gonna mess around with it when I get home. The one I posted earlier was 900.

River Betty/Deathbell + Salt Pile will create a poison of slow which is worth a fair amount of cash and will level alchemy fairly quickly as well. Although, if you stick to one formua you're going to be spending ages leveling your alchemy. Stay away from damage/ravage health/magicka/stamina poisons and restore health/magicka/stamina potions for leveling because they're next to worthless. Poisons that damage regen are a safe bet and potions that fortify or give increased regen will do you good as well.

You won't. You can only get http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Jarrin_Root of it during the DB quest line, and it's needed for the quest.

The toe gives Fortify Health (more than others), and Damage Stamina Regeneration.
The wheat gives Fortify Health, Restore Health, Damage Stamina Regeneration, and Lingering Damage.
The pod gives Lingering Damage, and Restore Health

The kickers are the Fortify Health (because of toe) and Lingering Damage.

So you get a Fortify Health, Restore Health, Lingering Damage, and Damage Stamina potion.

I use giant toe, wheat and one other fortify carry ingredient like creep cluster.
However as master alchemist with 5*29% alchemy gear they are worth over 5000, only one you can sell to and get all the money back is the fence in TG.

You can always trade them for grand soul gems.

my problem with very high values potions ? who to sell them to? I can make pots with vendor value of over 2000g, but most vendors only have 500/750g
yep I lvled alchemy but need to sell pots one at a time for a fraction of what I could get for them. And the same for enchanted armor/ weapons. Am not really complaining I have more gold than I need so its just an observation and seems a bit of a mistake on developers part. Why make it possible to craft expensive items and then not be able to sell them for their worth? I have necklace and a mask that give me better prices.. but don't wear them much !

You could take speechcraft perks and join the thieves guild to get access to vendors with more money.

The quest can be completed without using it, also do not eat it you will die instantly. It's found in quest to kill a empire.
