Leyawiin house...

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 8:18 am

Im looking to move my character, Lissa, to a smaller house as she feels her manor in Anvil is too big. My list of options goes:

Leyawiin
Bravil
Bruma
IC

I like Leyawiin and its people and general atmosphere and I think Lissa would be comfortable here.

But I have never bought the Leyawiin house before so I dont know what im expecting.

Could someone give me an opinion on this, or the other houses on my list? I want somewhere fairly small but very homely :)

Let me put out a word for Bruma, love that house. It redefines 'coziness' and raises it to a whole new level :)

That is of course, if she likes the cold and the snow. I know Buffy freezes her little butt there when visiting Lothran, but it′s nothing a few more bear pelts and fur clothes can′t take care of.

Lissa isnt a big fan of Bruma. She loves the town itself, but she isnt a fan of said weather, hence it being one of the last on her list. :(

And its a shame as Bruma truly is a beautiful place...

Then I′d recommend Bravil, another cozy little house that I think would suit Lissa well. It′s small but has two rooms and good storage possibilities. Much better than the I.C shack which only has one room.

Edit. And the climate is more comfortable

Lissa and I have always liked Bravil, but she has always been fixated on living in Leyawiin. Maybe gentle persuasian will sway her. :)

Bravil is a nice little town and the house too. Unfortunately I can′t say anything about the Leyawiin house as I′ve never been inside it. Someone else will have to give you advise on that I′m afraid :icecream:

Yes, it appears that the Leywiin house isn't very popular amongst some folk. Everone I seem to ask don't own and never have owned the house.

According to the UESP it is only slightly larger that the Bravil house, yet more expensive :/

I think it comes down to what town and surrounding area she (and you) prefer. I believe the Leyawiin house only has one room as opposed to the Bravil one, however I′m not 100% sure.

She would like to live in either Leyawiin or Bravil, but as she heard that the Leyawiin house is nicer she opted for that one, but I really don't want her money wasted if the interior of the Leyawiin house turns out to be awfyl! Haha :)

By the love of Azura, NO! If your character has minimal good taste.

If you're on PC, and you want to live in Leyawiin, install a mod that puts a nice house there, or kill the NPC(s) of the house you like the most and use http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27951 to get it for you.

The Leyawiin house is about as rundown on the inside as it looks on the outside, but even with that, it's okay. It actually has pretty good storage and a fair amount of useful furniture, and it's a convenient location, just about dead center in the city. I'd rank it somewhere in my top four or five favorite houses, alongside Bruma, Bravil, the Waterfront Shack and White Stallion Lodge.

You might notice I don't care much for the mansions.....

Unfortunatly I only have the console versian, so ill take your advice and have a second thought about Leyawiin.

gpstr, I too dont care much for mansions. Lissa only wanted to live in Anvil because her family live there, but the house there was just too big for such a young woman :P

Well.. mostly I wanted to just describe the high points of the Leyawiin house, since that was getting a bit lost in the shuffle. I didn't want to make it sound like that's definitely the one to choose. I don't want to have too much responsibility for Lissa's decision, but I agree with mirocu personally - I prefer the Bravil house. It is a bit smaller on the inside, but it's still comfortable and has about all the storage one might need, and I love the location.

The Leyawiin house, and the one in Bravil, are run down, damp hovels, not welcoming or homely at all, and I personally would prefer to save my money and live on the waterfront.
It's a pity you don't like Bruma, the house feels warm, has plenty of storage, and has a pub next door, what more could you want?

[Of course this is all just my opinion, but remember, do you want to wake up to the smell of the river/sewer outside the Bravil house every morning?]

if you like leyawiin, might i recommend white stallion lodge? You get a roommate lol. The bravil house is nicer in my opinion, and bravil is a better town imo. I really like the bruma house, but i'm never in bruma. I like the ic shack, its pretty quick in and out, and i'm not a good decorator in ob, so the cramped hovel is fine for me.

Also if your anvil house seems lonely why not put your followers in there, the adoring fan, mage girl, assassin guy, pet atronock, it made my rosethorn hall seem more alive. I know you said you didn't like mansions but its something to think about

Lissa isnt a huge fan of snow, after an incident in Skyrim where she got caught in a minor avalanche, she tries to avoid the snow/severe cold when she can. If she ever loses this fear maybe she will consider the Bruma house.

She likes Leyawiin because of the location. Its out of the way and she likes the locals.
She likes Bravil because of the landscape surrounding the city and she likes the shops :)

And she had often complained about the smell, but Lissa being as tenacious as she is, she'll force herself to learn to live with it :)

Unfortunatly due to me being a pretty hardcoe RPer (as good as I can be on console, anyway) getting followers would be near impossible for the way we play..

Thank you for the great suggestion though :)

Why not make a special save just before you buy, and try each of the candidates out? If you were buying a house in real life, you'd have a walk-through, and an inspection.

Don't believe the Counts and Countesses, Cyrodiil's estate agents. You will tell us which home you chose, I hope.
