LGNPC and Vampire Embrace conflict

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:04 am

I'm starting anew with Morrowind, after reinstalling my computer.

I tried Mlox for the first time (by the way, wow... it's really impressive!) and so I discovered the conflict between Vampire Embrace and a pretty large number of LGNPC mods.
I would never play without VE, but I was also very excited about trying LGNPC... so this is really discomforting.

Can anyone tell me how bad this conflict is?
Or maybe, is it possible to avoid it with Vampiric Illusion, since the problem is with dialogue?

Did you check out the http://escf.rethan-manor.net/index.php?topic=2333.0? Really, without Cortex around to contribute from the VE side we were reliant on information from the LGNPC team.

Yup, I did. Too bad, there's little solid information and lots of guessing: as you said, without Cortex to shed some light on the inner workings of VE is difficult to say exactly what that conflict could cause.

My guess would be that using Vampiric Illusion with the option to restore the normal pc's head when the mask is on should circumvent the problem: because when you activate that option, the masked vampire is actually reverted back to a non-vampire pc.
But this is just a guess on my part...

Vampire Embrace gets around the vampire greetings by using a method called 'pre-greeting'. It interrupts the normal vampire greeting npcs give, sets a few important variables, and redirects it to a normal greeting. LGNPC uses a similar method for some dialogue and side-quests.

The conflict can be a minor missing or improper greeting to a broken questlines and missing topics.

I started to see if I could patch the two years ago, but it requires a complete rewrite of VE's dialogue and LGNPC's dialogue to check for the other.

Mhm... looks pretty messy, from what you say.
I guess I'll just have to remove the conflicting lgnpc mods, then... :(

Thanks for the answers. :)
