I have seen a few questions about a similar issue to mine, only in different parts of the quest line. I have just completed part of the quest (I don't want to spoil it for anyone) and returned to Galmar for further instruction (In the Hjaalmarch camp). He gives me the reward, says good job...and that's it. He has a marker over his head but there is no dialogue to further the quest. I've tried running an earlier save, I've gone through all the dialogue..no good. I see that some people are suggesting using console commands but nobody seems to know the Quest ID or how to find out what console command to use in this situation.

If anyone can be of help here I'd appreciate it as I cannot continue in one of the major quest lines until then .

Did you ever fix that? I have the EXACT same problem. Right before the final battle right?

Usually after you "do what must be done" you go back and talk to ulfric(spelling) at his castle or hall or whatever. Check your quest log and see if that's added? Also I think if your where I am(am doing these quests too). You might find ulfric not at his hall. Don't want to say more without spoiling... But ya!

Also make sure no dragons are around, I had him unresponsive due to that before right where you are(dragon flying around the bridge area near you).

I'll try it, but I can never get it to move on from Galmar. I do run into that dragon ALL the time though.... so I will see.

Nope! I returned to Galmar and he gave me some money, said good job, and the quest arrow still pointed to him. Nothing updated in my journal, he stayed where he was, he had no new conversation topics, and Ulfric was still in Windhelm.
