Library plans

The entire second floor of my Rosethorn Manor was covered in books. It was hell, but i got every book in the game on display with all the matching volumes together. The really powerful and unique titles were under glass. Everything was there from a less rude song to Tome of Unlife. Except for the journals, they were were kept in the desk one story up.

My point is the books are a huge part of TES titles. And the act of obtaining, organizing, and displaying a collection is, for many, a considerable percentage of 300 hours plus playthroughs.

Libraries.
What are you planning as a bibliophile?
What are your hopes for improvement in Skyrim?
What have you done in the past that really brought an ingame collection together?

Tried books dominoe style tomfoolery, but totally lost my nerve.

In Morrowind, books were my favourite thing to collect, for two reasons... a lot of them are well written, and they make for great decoration. Of course, I still read them in Oblivion, but I never dared to arrange more than a few at a time, let alone an entire shelf. It was simply too clumsy. How did you do it?

Steady patients. And saving after every other book. I got to the point where I knew exactly how to "flip" a book using a wall and just slowing slid them into place. Kind of a pain.

This is what i'm really hoping is improved in skyrim. Cause the books deserve it and damn it so do we few who care.

I'm hoping for an easy way to place books on bookshelves.

Sounds impressive. Do you have a pic of your collection? I sort of started to collect the books, but they just ended up piled somewhere

I make it a point to collect every book as well! :read:

I tried multiple times to place my books neatly on a shelf, but I eventually gave up and stuck them in a desk. Hopefully Skyrim will give us an easier way to place books on a shelf than having to deal with the crazy physics and item moving.

For my rogue character I'm going to build a hideout with a treasury with the toolset. I'm gonna stash my collection of shiny things there. I've done this in both Morrowind and Oblivion and Skyrim won't be an exception. For my first mage/wizard I'm going to build a mage's tower somewhere but I'm not sure what I'm gonna start collecting there.

I hope to see in vanilla Skyrim both Book Jackets (unique appearance for each title) and Decorator Assistant to make placing them easier possible.

All i need is a auto-snap when placing a book on a shelf. Everything would be peachy with this. And if things didn't hover an inch off of surfaces.

Rare books, even more important than rare bottles of wine. Yep, gave up on neatly arranged shelves too, life is just too short.
Of course, if I have the same trouble in Skyrim, it's gonna be jealous rage time, library + Stormcall shout.
