Lich?

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 6:20 pm

You wish to become a lich? It's very easy, my friend. Simply find the heart of a lich, combine it with the tongue of a dragon, and cook it with the flesh of a well-ridden horse. This combination is certain to make you undead. - M'Aiq the Liar (MW)

Although meant as a joke, we had lich in Morrowind and Oblivion, we had horses in Oblivion, and from what the trailer suggests, we will have dragons in Skyrim. It is also presumed that horses will return. Therefore, we have all the animals required to become undead according to M'Aiq. If Bethesda decides to add flesh to horses, hearts to lich, and tongues to dragon(s), then we have all that is required to become a lich.
Thoughts?

M'aiq is no liar.

Wait.

There is no mystery. M'Aiq knows all. The dwarves were here, and now they are not! They were very short folks... Or perhaps they were not. It all depends on your perspective. I'm sure they thought they were about the right height.
You seek the shrine that is no longer there? An interesting concept. Look to the seas to the West. There lies what was once the shrine. Take a deep breath and begin your search.

M'Aiq speaks truth.

M'aiq does not smell as bad as lich. But then, M'aiq has better nose than lich. Or perhaps undead simply cannot smell?

I guess Boethia's shrine, the quest associated with it, Goldbrand, the deadra itself, the quest in Oblivion, Goldbrand in oblivion, Boethia's realm of oblivion in Oblivion, and the shrines to Boethia in oblivion are all jokes, right?

Is this a joke thread? As far as the recipe goes, dragons were absent from Ob. You could argue that even though we had horses, they weren't "well ridden" because they'd get a rest every time we had to jump off to kill a wolf. We had liches, but they were "heartless" as in they were not the terror inducing all powerful monsters they were in Daggerfall.

Anyways. This is something I'd like to see. Not because I want it, personally. I frankly don't have the fascination with liches and lichdom that other fans of the series do. They are also not as present in our culture as vampires and werewolves.

However, it's something for which there is a fair degree of demand for among fans. Liches also play a large role in ES, from Daggerfall to Morrowind to Oblivion. It's just another thing that would make the game greater than the sum of it's parts, and shows us that Bethesda is committed to make a unique, in-depth game.

Yes...if his name is M'aiq the Liar then obviously its a Lie that he is a Liar, therefore everything he says is the truth? because he is lying about being a liar. as such he is telling the truth because he lies about being a liar which is the truth in of itself. :toughninja:

As a side note we need more good books like that in skyrim, not the boring as sand books you'd find laying around MW..

This thread amuses me.

On a more serious note, it's never been impossible to become a lich. Certainly, the very fact that liches exist means that people, somehow did it. Why not your player? It'd just be another evil transformation option like being a vampire or a werewolf. However, being a vampiric werewolf lich is just absurd. You should only get to choose one :P

As the prince of plot and subtlety its a pretty understandable tie in with ninja rabbits, eggs, and the secrecy of easter.

M'aiq's comments are always a joke about complaints that people on the forums had at the time. They devs weren't trying to insult forum posters, they were just trying to show how silly it is to complain about how features that require a ridiculous amount of time to produce for little return value. Some people on the forums shouldn't take the jokes personally. Humility is key. As for the comments of becoming a lich by M'aiq, if you read he says that mixing those together and eating them will surely make you undead, meaning that it would be so rancid it would most likely kill you and then bring you back to life. I do agree we should be able to become liches in a TES game finally just make it very difficult to attain.

Much of the difficulty seems to be in figuring out what your supposed to do. But apparently the God of Worms answers prayers by telling the worthy how to do it, so just gotta clap your hands if you believe I guess. and clap like you mean it.
