Lich

Post » Mon Apr 25, 2011 6:21 am

I voted "yes", but only if it's done right, like it's done in D&D. Lichs are basically very powerful magic users (level 18 or higher) who have used various enchantments or some form of magic to pass into the undead world.

It takes a LOT of time and persistence to make a character into a lich in D&D, if Bethesda wanted to let us play a lich, it would feel silly (to me) if we could just do this from the beginning of the game. This level of persistence shouldn't be cheapened.

the thing is that as a lich ur a very dead looking corpse, and liches probably would likely talk very strangely. Vampires actually look (and i think sound and smell too) almost just like normal persons.
Sorry about my language though, just so tired of seeing all these threads with dumb ideas. Even gunpowder in Skyrim is more smart than this 1 in my opinion.

Actually, in TES not all vampires look like normal people. Somewhere (one of the in game books in Oblivion maybe?) it is said that Skyrim vampires are vastly different from Cyrodiilic ones, including the ability to go through ice (or something to that effect) It is also said that they look pretty different too.

Did you not meet Mannimarco in oblivion? He was a lich you know.

He is?, isnt he jsut like a big bad necromancer and nothing more?, he doesnt look so very lichy, and even if he is, most people lilely want their liches look more.... dead.

I agree on Lichdom. I disagree with every mechanic you've proposed.

No, he is a lich. Use to battle Tiber Septim, might be even older than that.

I'm not quite sure, but didn't manimarco turned himself into a god after the events of daggerfall/warp in the west?

It was because manimarco's divine power interfered with arkay's that allowed you to create black soul gems, even after the manimarco you fight at the end of the MG quest line died.

Yeah, what's your point?
Mannimarco split into two beings.
The God of Worms (received the totem) & The King of Worms (the same as he always was, didn't get the totem)

Doesn't make Mannimarco any less of a lich. Thus, allowing for PCs to become lich now that canon allows lich to look normal.

Okay, thanks, I didn't know that.

Nothing wrong with the concept, but I just don't see Bethesda adding anything like this into Skyrim. Especially when you consider what a huge step back Oblivion was from Morrowind when it came to playing as "monster" characters.

In Morrowind you had Werewolves with their unique abilities and playstyle. You also had the ability to become a Vampire which was supported by friendly vampire clans and you even had a questline you could follow.

In Oblivion you just had Vampires, and being a vampire was basically pointless and boring. There were no vampire quests or clans. No other vampires in the world would even recognize you as a fellow vampire. All you did was get a couple of small abilities, and you had to give people goodnight kisses while they slept (aka "Drinking blood").

Its a good idea, but it needs severe downsides to offset the sheer power of it.

So Id say, no illusion spell to hide your appearance.
You will be unable to interact with most NPC's because theyll attack you. Same as guards if youre in a town and your invisibility wears off.
You wouldnt be able to do most quests and could only trade with a very select few people, who dont mind that youre an evil abomination, as long as you have money.
Kinda about the way Morrowind did vampirism.

They will probably have turning into vampire and/or werewolf, but nothing more than that.

Ha. They should have a easter egg of a Lich, a vampire and a werewolf living in a single house. Wait...nah it sounds stupid.

Yea, I think it will be just vampires and werewolves.

Ever seen that show on Space, "Being Human"? Thanks for making me think of that. :P

Just swap out the ghost for a Lich, and you're set.

I watch it on SyFy. I now it was a ghost haha, but Lich seems to be the popular monster in the Elder Scrolls besides the vampire and the werewolf.

I personally think becoming a litch would be badass. Though I dunno about being all friendly with other litches. They may not attack eachother, but I think it'd be cool to become a litch by accident so that you can role play a good or evil one. Obviously if your a good litch, you don't wanna be getting all friendly with the litches.

I was thinking about how the quest could work, it'd be cool if you just were doing a certain quest battle and were allied with a necromancer who ends up killing you to practice his new idea on how to create a litch or watches you die from some boss and brings you back. And you could have the option Load Save, Quit or Accept Litchhood.
