Do Azura's quest, and if you are infected then go to a chapel or drink a cure disease potion. You only become a vampire after having the disease untreated for 3 days.

This is what I was going to say. Just take a cure potion with you. Azura's star is so useful for keeping your magical equipment charged. You'll only need one potion, just drink it after you've done the quest.

You don't need to cure yourself at each time you get the disease. Just finish killing the vampire, even with the disease, and before leaving the cave, cure yourself. You can also eat a mandrake root.

Then you just need to find another vampire later. Porphyric Hemophilia isn't vampirism, it's just the disease that causes it eventually if not cured. You can read more about Oblivion vampirism http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Vampirism.

There are a limitless amount of vampires in the game, and you can be infected with Porphyric Hemophylia multiple times.

Dark Brotherhood gives you the option to become a vampire, same with the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Beating_Heart#Beating_Heart 'ingredient' from Mehrune's Razor.

Curing the disease will not prevent you from becoming a vampire. You don't become a vampire immediately after being infected with Porphyric Hemophilia. It takes about 3 days to become a vampire. And then you have to sleep and get a nightmare to become a vampire. At any time previous to that you can simply cure the disease. I usually use a Cure Disease spell (requires Journeyman level Restoration). You can also just eat a Mandrake Root (very common south of Bravil). If you cure the disease, you can still catch it again and become a Vampire.

The only thing to prevent you from becoming a Vampire is if you actually let the disease turn your character into a Vampire and then you go through the vampire cure quest. Please note that on a PS3 and if you have GOTY, once you become a vampire you cannot be cured due to a bug in the game.

So I would not be afraid of battling vampires as long as you have a Cure Disease spell you can cast, or a Cure Disease Potion, or Mandrake Root you can eat, or even if you want to visit a Chapel.

Azura's Star is very useful. If you have a lot of gold you can also buy soul gems at some Alchemy/Magic shops. Or you can pay people in the Mages' Guild to recharge.

Why is the Lich so useless!!!

I cast him and then he doesnt atatck until the Lich itself gets hit and then mid combat will forget its in combat and start to float away and then by time summon time almost up or its almost dead it will decide to turn around and attack again ...

I used to dislike the Lich summons for that reason. They tend to float around mumble to themselves instead of attacking.

More recently I like Liches in certain situations. For example if there are a lot of spell casters liches can be a great distraction. Because they are difficult to kill (they can take alot of hits) and they have spell reflections, so some of the spell casters get damaged by their own spells. And yes, Liches are slow to attack, but the attacks can be very powerful.

I might not summon a Lich against a bear or bandit some simple enemy. But they help out a lot in some situations.
