It Lies Below

4E 23
The Oblivion crisis has come and gone. Tamriel has healed its wounds. In the center of the Nibenay Basin three deep rifts have ripped open the very surface of Tamriel to reveal deep hidden caverns. The rifts seem to cause severe weather anomalies. The temperature has dropped significantly from the normally pleasant temperature. The rifts constantly spew out thick fog, reducing visibility to 20 or 30 feet. At times shrill shrieks will emanate from the crevasse, but there have been no sightings of any lifeforms. An outpost has been set up at the southernmost rift. It is unknown what lies beneath the surface. A team of specialists is currently being assembled to explore the rifts.

You are on the team that will search the rift for anything you deem important. Beware of what awaits you.

Each team member gets a pack for their items, bedroll, food, and water. When I make the actual thread, I will make the opening post.

I will play a character and make narrator posts adding more to the story.

Rules:
1. No character control.
2. No ubering.
3. Posts must be of good quality and length.
4. Keep OOC to a minimum.
5. My word is law. If you do not obey, you will die by purple space lobsters (yeah, I went there).

It probably sounds too much like a dungeon dive for people to take an interest in it.
How about adding some more story to it?

No, it sounds pretty epic the way it is. There can't be more story since what's inside is a complete mystery and you have to find it out on your own.

Cause it is a dungeon dive. But with pizazz. :P

I'm not sure what you want other than me to give away my "twists" and stuff.

And this:

I agree with Ayumi Fan, it really needs a story line for people to get interested. You can't just jump into a dungeon, because dungeons aren't very special. I go into caves all the time, and it isn't very exciting (in the game, I mean).

What makes you think this is supposed to be an ordinary dungeon?

It's a tabletop RP. I introduce the plot as you venture into the dungeon. The story is this: Rifts are appearing in the Nibenay Basin, you're recruited to search the rifts, you enter the rifts, you encounter problems like creatures and obstacles.

I'm not going to give you reasons to join it. Either take a "risk" and join it or stay away.

I prefer mystery rather than mapped out full detail.

Also, I'll create my bio in a little bit.

I don't recall approaching any bonfire and releasing urine on it.

As long as it's not like Tomb of Horrors I may be interested. I recall a very fun RP I was in once that was a dungeon crawl in the dwemer ruins under Mournhold. Let me just whip up a sheet real quick like, then I'll mosey it on over to ya.

BTW, Con, your avatar is actually freakin me out.

What's Tomb of Horrors?

Something so horrible that even the utterance of its name brings a curse. So avoid saying it outloud, lest you invoke the wrath of Gygax!

I'll join in case this gets enough people to start up.

Name: Soren Ceres
Race: Breton
Gender:Male
Age: 16

Appearance: http://fireemblemblog.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/soren.jpg{Yes, I am a total fire emblem fan}

Armor/Apparel:Simple black-and-gold robes tied at the waist with a the leather belt that holds his scabbard and the pouch for his tome.

Weapon(s):http://www.wetanz.com/assets/Uploads/Telmarine-Falchion.jpg, as well as a brace of intermediate-level spells.

Misc Equipment:A small silver-lined grey tome fitted into a pouch on his belt

Class:Sorcere

Skills:Destruction, Mysticism , Illusion, Restoration,Conjuration, Blade, and is a skilled tactician and translator.

Short Bio: Was trained from birth at the Arcane University, as his features indicate the most focused elven traits ever found in a breton. His reddish eyes were further indication of magical talent, as the eyes are a common way to evaluate magical ability. After a ten year period of magical training, he spent another five years at the imperial general combat training and tactical academy. His deft swordplay earned him some prestige at the combat academy, but the frailness of his body and lack of a strong physical constitution made him only moderately useful in close quarters. Adverse to these results was his prowess at tactical anolysis and situational evaluation. A year after the end of his training he was assigned as loremaster, linguist, and mage of the group.

You're supposed to PM me but this will do I guess. If you can just change the Appearance to a text description, everything's fine.

I dont get why people think evry RP needs to have story? Come on, The Cave was essentially a dungeon dive that had very little prior estblished story and that was still an epic RP. Sure, it may just be me wanting to chuck an excuse to bring The Cave into the conversation at any chance I get...but it was a really good RP :P

I will see how this goes and will hopefully get a sheet to you tommorow-ish Con, got a party to go to atm :P

Haha, this story reminds me of What Lies Beneath - a RP I made a few months back. The storyline and everything is nearly the same. :P

Due to this, I'd love to join... but I've got no time. :( I wish you luck, though.
