My life as a raider

Post » Tue Nov 16, 2010 1:25 am

In the Broken Steel DLC I ended up joining that gang of raiders who spend their time robbing water from caravans. I would have just killed the lot of them on sight, if it weren't for the old woman who's place they were all camped out at. But I didn't want the old lady getting hurt, so I signed up. They even gave me a suit of armour to wear, which I put on to humour them. It was just like being in the Tunnel Snakes all over.
I was wondering how I could take them all out with the old lady hanging around, when I noticed an enemy on my radar close by. Again, thinking only of the old lady's safety I went off to check it out. It was one Enclave soldier - and a gunfight ensues with bullets and plasma blasts getting exchanged down this alleyway. This is the good bit: Although I'd only signed up like 5 minutes before, the entire gang all come running along and pitch in to help out the newbie. One of them even ran around the building to outflank the soldier. I was quite touched by their loyalty, really. But not enough to stay in the fight, with me standing back to watch the battle from a safe distance. They turned out to be a bunch of lame-oes because the Enclave guy killed the whole lot of them. I didn't have to lift a finger - other than to finish off the almost dead Enclave guy and loot a bunch of corpses. Ha!
I love it when your enemies all eliminate each other. Or you meet the non-Brotherhood-of-Steel Outcasts and arrange for them to fight some awful monster like an albino scorpion. That in my mind is a far more important thing for them to be doing than chasing after ancient technology and being rude to wholesome wastelanders like myself.

I had a similar incident , its somewhere around tenpenny towers there is a small path leading to a top of a ledge/hill. Its a very narrow route below i saw 4-5 outcasts and just above on the top buncha raiders like 19 of them... attacked the raiders and ran away down the narrow path where the outcasts where patrolling, after that a whole lotta looting and incumcumbered(you know what i mean)

Haha yes i love that too. I used to endlessly watch outcasts fight raiders at one of their HQ.

spoiler alert!

Spoiler
if you have robotic's expert perk then if you go into adam's air force base you can get all the robots to fight for you.

3 slavers, a caravan, raiders, some brotherhood outcasts, and some slaves had a battle. thankfully i was hiding and saw a great show. i must have been at some sort of crossroad where everything... crosses, at rush hour too. i think i was somewhere near big town. i dunno for sure.

I think I had a real case of dummies fighting each other. I went to Point Lookout a bit too early (level 12 or so) and ran smack into a Feral Ghoul Reaver. Oh, CRAP! :ahhh: I ran from the thing, going through nearly all of my stimpacks (damn thing kept hitting me in the back with claws and radbombs), then led it into a group of swampies. When they engaged the reaver, I hit a Stealthboy and patched myself up while I watched the fun. Damn thing ended up killing all of them. Luckily, I had injured it beforehand and the swampies didn't exactly go down easily - the reaver was down to something like three health bars. A grenade or three and my reaver problem was over. Thanks, guys! Better you than me!

My favorite was where three deathclaws engaged a group of outcasts near the ruins of that retirement home. Things got better as a group of raiders jumped into the fray. What a show!

I still find the Evergreen Mills raider against Behemoth fight to be one of the best.

I mean, 50+ raiders with 10 millis and one Behemoth... And the Behemoth usually win.

I usually step in and help the friendly side (Outcasts are technically friendlies, since they don't shoot at me on sight). Or, if they're both unfriendlies, I step in and help the one who's losing. The idea is for them to eliminate each other, or at least come close.

My favorite example of this phenomenon: Was looking through my sniper scope at a human enemy (who had amazing long-range accuracy) in the distance. I'm getting hurt, but slowly lining up my shot ... and then, suddenly, a yao guai enters from the right side of my scope and leaps on the guy. Totally mauled the poor bastard. At least he would've had a quick death if I'd gotten my shot off.

Playing with MMM mod i ended up fighting 12 raiders on level 8, ran down the cliff while the raiders where continuously chasing me, ended up with an outcast patrol of 5 guyz and 1 robot. Hit the stealth thingy and saw them fight , Its very entertaining to see 18 guyz duke it out with lazers and gun fire from everywhere to everywhere. In the end there where 2 outcasts and a heavily damaged robot who got mauled by a death claw leaving just 1 outcast left, kinda felt sorry for him and left him alone.

Martigen's mutant mod , increased spawns and new creatures lets just say the wasteland is 5 time as more populated. Ever looked through a scope and ended up seeing 15+ talon company with RPG and 7.62mm FN FAL assault rifles and you thought "its better i look at them through this scope only"
