My name is Zombra and my whole life has led up to this moment - only to have all meaning and justice in the universe ripped away like rotting brown paper.

I applied with my boss to take a 3-day weekend on 11-11, 11-12, and 11-13. (Normally I work weekends.) He said it should be no problem.

Shortly thereafter, I find out that a coworker of mine has already requested that week off to go see his stupid family.

NOT ONLY can I not have the weekend off, I am going to have to work EXTRA to cover my friend's vacation.

Truly, this is the end. It's been nice knowing you all. *reaches for bottle of acid*

LOL at 'my firend's STUPID family'.

It seems the only option is to use the all-answering and all-defeating resort: mods.......

Lol, it's all good, I'll be busy doing homework all weekend as well as working all weekend. There'll be more time to play it. :D

I wasn't going to come into this thread because it seemed like a downer, but seeing "Gather ye, and hear my tale of woe" made it irresistible. That and the first response of the little violin made me laugh harder than I have in weeks.

Thank you OP and first responder, you made my day.

I'm carefully planning 11-11-11 to have it absolutely free. But instead of faking a sickness, I'll just say to my boss I've clients to visit that day (luckily my work isn't staying in an office) and that I can't move them to any other day, but those people will be already dispatched the days before 11-11, even if I have to work extra time. So in 11-11, I just have to get up late, take a nice celebration breakfast, buy Skyrim, return home and....oooh :D

That way, everybody is happy :)

Eat a row potato\baking powder. You'll suddenly turn up looking like you're sick but you will feel fine.

And that's the way to beat your co-worker and his family

Ask your boss to take the three same days the following weekend in lieu, then deny that Skyrim ever came out on 11.11.11 and it really comes out on 17.11.11. Easy.

Mental health days are crucial to living a well lived life.

If you've never called in sick to go off and have fun then you're missing out.

Big time.

Advice to OP: Call in sick if you think you can get away with it without getting fired.

I'm pretty sure I don't know anyone (well) that HASN'T used a sick day for a vacation day. Although it's kind of a dike move to do it when you're already covering for someone else.

Perhaps this is a sign that you should do work before play and it will result in a change of mind
