Life span of elves?

That snow elf in

Spoiler
the Dawnguard dlc
had been living for quite some time. I'm not sure if it was magic related with his protective role, or if that was just his natural life span.

In the game Morrowind, along the main questline, you meet a

Spoiler
Dremer
and the 9 only knows how old this guy is ....

That Dunmer

Spoiler
Neloth the Telvanni mage, in the Dragonborn dlc
had been also living quite some time, he is a very powerful mage, so it might have to do with magic, but i doubt that. He claims to have been there when the red mountain erupted or something like that, which was, I believe, some 200 years ago.

I know the Orsimer are like the rejected step child of the mer family, but they are still mer. No magic qualities, just warrior qualities. How long do they live? Heard the same as a regular human.

My main question, how old do you think they live?

Another question ... are elves considered human? I know they aren't man in any relation but does that not mean every race is considered human as a whole?

The character you're referring to in Morrowind is infected with corprus, which extends his lifespan infinitely. Altmer live the longest (500-600 years), then Dunmer (300-400 years), then Bosmer (200-300 years). Those are just rough averages, and powerful mages are usually exceptions. They extend their lives using magic. Orsimer are very short-lived. They usually die at around 40 or 50.

After reading some more, I've realised that some of those estimates are too low. According to The Real Barenziah, the average healthy mer can live to be around 1000.

I heard it was 300-600 for Altmer, about 200 for Dunmer or Bosmer.

Orcs are short-lived, and so probably are Khajiit (the average cat lives 15 years, and Khajiit are feline).

Bear in mind that the Khajiit were allegedly created from the Bosmer. So while a regular cat might only life for 15 years, give or take, Khajiit are a bit more than just cats .

Orcs being short lived might be due in part of them going out in the wilderness to get their skulls smashed in when they think they're too old to do anything else, and the "Old Orc" doesn't particularly look that old to begin with, so there's that. I would still be surprised if their lifespans didn't match humans at least.

As for Merrish ages, ehhh...its not what I would call consistent. Given that there's a Dunmeri miner of all things that claims to have been in the business for centuries, I'd be willing to bet the Dunmer and Bosmer can easily reach past two-hundred under the right conditions. Same goes for the Altmer, but possibly to the extreme depending on where they land in the caste system. I personally think anything under six-hundred is a meager estimate in regards to an Altmer's best case scenario.

EDIT: Gelebor is a funny bird, given that he's the last prelate of Auriel for the Falmer. The Falmer might have a lifespan comparable to the Altmer, but that's hard to tell given that all the ones that haven't degenerated are either dead or aren't talking. We also don't know how old Gelebor is either, IIRC, he states that the Chantry was completed in the early first era, so he's either from around that era, came about a little later, or was born much earlier. Whether or not his physical body is kept in stasis by Auriel so he can continue his duties like the spectral prelates is also something to consider.

Especially when you factor in Mannimarco. A young Mannimarco helped found the Mages College in Tamriel. He might have been a century or so old way back then.

He was--or rather is--the attention w.h.o.r.e at the center of that Daedric drama that is TESO.

Adding that peculiar necromancer-phyllic fetish of his, and this should make that one at definitely 1000+ years easy..... :D

when did that word become censored???
