Life in Tamriel

Post » Wed Apr 21, 2010 12:12 am

Alright, assume one day you woke up in prison/on a boat/in a cave/etc. And suddenly, in real life, you realize you're in Nirn, in Tamriel. Who would you be? Where would you live? HOW would you live? Would you get married and have children? Would you lead a dangerous life of adventure or guardhood? Or would you settle down and do something simple? What race would you be? How would you live up to your race's culture? What else?

I'd live in Morrowind, but of course it's destroyed now... <_<

So i'd most likely live in Hammerfell, Stros M'Kai, as a Dark Elf. I'd most likely be a musician (Considering Lutes were in morrowind, there's bound to be others.), I'd also be part of a secretive assassin organization I'd lead called "Opaque Visage" (Off the top of my head), and have a hidden blade on the top of my lute, lol. :shifty:

How bout you guys?

I answered one similar to this yesterday, so I'll stick with my previous answer. I said I would be a Khajiit, but since Im waking up there, or whatever, I'll be an Imperial. I would start as a merchant in Anvil. I would work until I had enough money to be a traveling salesman. I've got to have some body guards. I would travel to all the cities and inns in Cyrodiil. I would probably spend a few days in each city, more in IC, in hopes of some new customers coming to town. Once I had visited everything, or when I ran out of goods, I would head back to Anvil to restock and rest.

I'd be a Breton savant with delusions of artistic ability writing the great Tamrielic novel in her evenings but holding down a boring day job in Census and Excise.

I would be a Dark Elf Pilgrim. I'd travel across Tamriel searching for treasures, learning lores of the land, reading old tomes and learning histories, saving up enough coin until I could purchase a Shop in Anvil, and I would marry a young Dark Elf girl, and live the rest of my days in comfort as a Merchant.

I would probably be a Nord, seeing as I'm from Norway. I would want to live in Cyrodiil, though. Perhaps own my own store in Chorrol. Work during the day and spend the evenings the nearby tavern. I would probably save up money to buy my own horse so that I could travel safely to the Imperial City and expand my store.

Given that "video game Nirn" and "real world Nirn" are probably two very different places, I imagine my preconceptions based on the former would probably get me killed rather quickly in the latter.

I
I would be a merchant guard following this guy.

I would be a Dark Elf spellsword who wants to see all of Tamriel. I use an enchanted Dwarven gear. Once again, I would sign on to caravans as a merchant guard, traveling with the best of them. I would be a low level Mage's guild member, perhaps an evoker. I would also be an associate in the Fighter's Guild, and possibly an undercover blade. I would carry all manor of books about Deadra and oblivion on me, and make frequent visits to Deadric shrines. As such, I would be a bit of a heretic in my native Morrowind (pre-crator and downfall of the tribunal). Otherwise, I would live up to the Dark Elf standared, pessimistic, realistic, opinionated, creative, deadra obssessed, wandering spellsword. In addition, I would have a Dark Elf girlfriend who owns a tavern in the Imperial City. She would probably be the guidance and stability in my life.

I would say you're hired, but you're gonna have a lot on your plate. You're not gonna have much time to keep me from getting decapitated. Well, there's that, and the whole Dunmer thing.

I'd enter the Oblivion version, think up a quest that needs doing, then never give it to anyone. That way I'll always be flagged as essential and shall live forever.

I have to go with Rhekarid, making sure the crosshair lined up over you is always a crown is definately a very nice goal.

I'd want be an independent Redguard thief in the IC (assuming that we could be whatever we wanted to). I'd be a bartender or shopkeeper by day, but by night I'd run across rooftops and steal all kinds of shiny objects, almost like a greedy fantasy version of Batman. If we were there in our own bodies, I would be a Bretton mage, seeing as how they are the alpha-nerds of the Elder Scrolls, and I would be my lovable self.

If I woke up in Nirn I'd be terrified. Terrified of bandits, thugs, thieves, disease, giant talking cats and lizards, aggresive fauna, spiteful gods and all magic users.

Assuming I could adjust to all that I'd probably be a brewer or a vinter up in Colovia. I'd be an imperial, but I'd have little time for Nibeneans and would rarely leave Colovia. I would avoid Argonians and Khajiit because, as mentioned previously, they are giant lizard and cat monsters and I don't think I could ever get used to that. I wouldn't bother with a family, but I'd have a dog and a horse if I could afford one. I would take up chapel climbing in my spare time.

I'd be a male Imperial with black hair and have a job as a librarian in some library shop in the Imperial City. I also would do merchant work on the side selling whatever stuff I don't that I don't want that I have. Do these jobs until I save enough money to buy a house, items to fill the house, armor and clothing, and swords.

Heh. I remember this topic on Morrowind about 8 years ago.

My answer will remain the same:

1. Get off boat.
2. BS Socucius and steal everything not nailed down.
3. Pawn off said loot from Excise Office.
4. Sell "package" to Arrille.
5. Drink my travel expenses.
6. Stagger to siltstrider and try and bribe my way to Balmora (failing miserably until I end up walking).
7. Dumpster dive in Balmora.
8. Wait around a lot for dumpsters to refill.
9. Pawn off said dumpster loot.
10. Knowing full well I can't "reload last save", I actually buy steel claymore from, Thorek.
11. Find nearest pub.
12. Piss around for who knows how long, talking to folks, and for some reason with all the booze, I'm still able to keep track of all this useless information.
13. Find this drug addict on the east-side of Balmora that wants some "package".
14. Blow off said drug addict, and decide to take a long walk.

Personality-wise, I'd be a Wood Elf, but in actuality I'd be Half Redguard, Half Breton, if it were to be my real self in Nirn. I'd probably wake up on a boat, since I'm not the kind of person to wake up in a cave or a prison alone. I'd make my way to Chorrol or Anvil, because Bruma would be ridiculously cold, looking at somebody wrong in Cheydinhal would get me killed, Bravil... just no, and Leyawiin has too much ethnic tension.

First things first, I'd learn magic from a trainer by becoming an apprentice to a Healer or a Mages Guild member who didn't go out much, no need to get myself killed. And being 16 and not the most athletic person around, I wouldn't be able to keep up with an Orc Warrior or a Khajiit Thief. I'd probably get a job eventually being something like an Alchemist, or a Healer, and I would make sure to always stay on everybody's good side.

Being technically a child, and seeing as how I'm a good person, I probably wouldn't have trouble finding someplace to live cheaply.

I'd make friends with people down by the inn, and hear stories of adventures, but I'd be far too afraid of dying to go dungeon-crawling. I'd train at acrobatics to the point that I could climb onto the tops of buildings, and then my alter-ego would come out. I'd learn to be a spy, simple as that. I'd dress in dark clothes, learn the secrets of the townspeople, and become a master of sneaking around. I wouldn't steal anything, because then I'd feel terrible, but I'd rummage through things to get information, as a hobby.

However, I wouldn't have anything holding me back from learning Archery, and eventually venturing out on my own. I'd always stay near a road, never carry much with me (Highwaymen), and I'd wander the safer parts of the wilderness. I'd eventually make my way towards Imperial City, and buy a home in the Waterfront District. Nobody would be able to tell I wasn't Middle-Class. I'd bathe often, wear decent clothes, and I'd visit bookstores often, so I'd be well-read.

I'd get a job as a cook in an inn, and work my way up until I was getting a nice enough income to move to a nicer part of town, and I'd invite my Beggar friends over to eat... although I'd keep a close eye on them.

Then I'd live happily ever after... until I made enough money to make travels to distant lands and meet new and interesting people while still being in a caravan so I'd have a very low chance of dying. Not to mention I'd study things like Lycanthropy and Vampirism, but I'd never actually get near a vampire aside from Count Hassildor, who I'd identify immediately 'cause I'd notice the teeth. I'd study in Alchemy and Healing enough to be able to cure Vampirism and Lycanthropy, and I'd do it for free to those who wanted the cure for themselves.

People who just wanted a cure handy, I'd make them pay. :D

Actually, I want to change my answer. I'd be a Nord Barbarian, and I would fight for fame and glory, both in the Arena, and on fields of battle. My true home would be Skyrim, but that wouldn't stop me from venturing far and wide. I'd do some mercenary work, as well as Fighter's Guild work. I think I'd still take a Dunmer for a wife, though.

I would be absolutely horrified. I'm no hero, I'm not nearly as capable as fighting meanies as my ingame character, I'm just a common guy. Tamriel is not a pleasant place with giant rats and beasts that wants to kill you every 100 yards.

If I managed to get into a town alive, I would probably try to stay there for the rest of my life, maybe as a librarian or study or something, in safety, protected from the beasts thanks to the town walls and the guards :P

This pretty much sums it up for me, assuming Tamriel is as dangerous as it is in the games.

I feel like all the snooty Altmer would piss me off, severely.

I would probably be a Bosmer in Valenwood, a Khajiit in Elsweyr or... well... any of the races in their home province, really.
