Chapter 1
The sun was beating down on the dry cracked and dusty ground. There was nothing in sight it seemed for at least a hundred miles, the temperature seemed to be way above any normal wasteland temperature in the past. Dave, the man who had done nothing but ruin a towns building and peoples lives, trekked through the hot sun as it beat down onto his exsposed arms. He had changed over the months from being an idealistic yet suttle man, to being a hard no nothing wastlander. His clothes were different as well, he wore old beaten fighter pilot goggles and a old linen scarf, to cover his face. His long ratty hair covered his neck from the sun. His pants were some old beaten cargo pants that he had found in his travels, and his shirt was nothing more than patches mended together from other different shirts. His boots were nothing better, he had taken them off a dead wastelander that seemed to have died from the suns heat.
As dave continued through the sun partched wasteland, some thing on the horizon began to shimmer. It was to distant to see with the naked eye, but luckly for dave, he had an old spy glass that he had found in a old derelict city. Dave kneeled onto the ground, to get a better balance for the spy glass. The object shimmered in the sun light, making it hard for dave to see it very well without getting blinded.
The object seemed to be getting bigger and bigger, as dave continued to watch the object. It looked like an old train, that he seen pictures of when he was a child. Dave tried to get a better look, but the sun glisened off the object into daves eye. The object suddenly began to move east or north, dave was'nt completely sure, he just went which ever way seemed the best. Dave could see the object know, which appeared to be a stage coach with a coal stack in the center of the wagons bed. The object was moving slow, but fast enough to out run a man. Dave quickly rummanged through his bag, pulling out a piece of glass that he grabbed during some scavanging through ruins.
The glass shimmered in the light as dave tried to get the wagons attension. He held it up as high as he could, moving it to different postions, trying to get the wagon attension. Nothing, the wagon continued on its way, when suddenly dave saw several men running after the wagon. Dave placed the piece of glass into his bag, and pulled his spy glass from his waist. Four men were chasing the wagon, four men who were heavily armed. They looked like they had automatic weapons and the sort, as they continued to follow the wagon. Dave grabbed the glass again and began to signal to the wagon once more. This time it was'nt the wagon that spotted him, it was the four heavily armed men. Dave was worried, as two of the men broke away from the other two, and started towards him. They obviously could'nt tell what or who it was, but they still ran towards the shimmering light.
Dave checked his weapons as he calmly walked in their direction. His Glock 17 was at his side, while his combat knife was attached to the inside of his right boot. Those were the only weapons dave had on him, even his Glock was low on ammunition. As dave finished checking his weapons, he had'nt realized that he too was running towards the men. He did'nt stop or try and pace himself, but he just continued to run towards them, still a little nervous about who the two men were. Dave had lost sight of the wagon and the two men, as they passed through a nearbly hill, which took them to who knows where.
The sun continued to beat down on the sun partched earth, as dave and the two men finally met up about halfway between where they had ran from. Dave realized that the two men, were accually a woman and a man. They were both heavily armed with what dave realized to be a AK-103 and an old beaten M-14 with a scope on it. The two strangers looked worse off than dave had, and dave had been wandering the wasteland for nearly a year.
"Whats your name stranger?" the man said holding up his M-14. Dave looked at the woman for a moment, he realized that her hair was very short, even shorter than the mans hair was. They both looked like they had just come from out of the dirt. Their skin was very tan and their faces seemed to be very tired and weary.
"Whats your name stranger?" the man said once more holding his rifle against his shoulder. The woman just stood next to the man watching daves movements and what he had on him.
"My name is not important. If your so into names, whats yours?" dave said looking at the man with a sturn tone to his deep voice. The man quickly glanced at the woman who still stood next to the man carefully watching dave.
"Ok names aren't important. Whats your buisness out here in these parts?" the man said glancing over at the woman once more, who still stood next to him carefully watching dave. Dave smirked at the question as he to glanced over at the woman, who suddenly held her Ak-103 against her shoulder clearly looking down the iron sights pointed at his head.
"My buisness is my own, but if you must know. I'm a ruin runner. I travel all around the wasteland scavanging old relic's and other objects that may bring me some caps." the man looked squinted at dave as he seemed to be getting axious. The man started hoping from one foot to another, when dave realized that his feet were being burned from the hot dry ground. The woman still did'nt say a word, she just stood there pointing here rifle at daves head.
"Since you asked me what I'm doing out in the wasteland, maybe you can tell me what you and your friends are doing out in the wasteland?" the man grunted as he continued to hop from one foot to the other. Dave looked at the woman as he realized the man would'nt give an answer.
"Well your friend seems to be busy? Would you mind telling me what you are doing out here." dave looked at the woman with a smile, but behind that smile dave was thinking of how to get out of this little situation he had gotten himself into.
