Light Appreciation Thread

Because he can still kill as much as you guys, because he can move to the prey quicker.

When the heavies are afar shooting miniguns he's killing with precision from behind their lines.

When you're out of buffs and begin to lose hope...IS THAT A LIGHT MAKING IT JUST IN TIME!? WITH A SYRINGE!?

When you're feeling outnumbered and terried. He'll sneak up on the enemies and kill them all like a big brother winning it for you. Not just protecting.

He's there when you need a friend to lean on, encouragement, or a quick killer with speed that others dream of.

He may not create a chaotic frenzy of bullets, but he can do just as much killing as the slow heavy turns around.

He's not too busy using his huge amount of buffs that he forgets he needs to move.

Because he's too small too hit.

Because he moves so fast that you'll see him at two places at the same time.

Thank you light. We love you.

My ideal character is highly mobile, with an accurate assault rifle. That's what I choose to use in all the games I play, it fits my play style best imo.

I feel FPS games should have weapons that reward their users accordingly. If a weapon has predictable recoil, low spread, high accuracy, that's what I want to use, skill over spam, people who can make use of more difficult to use weapons should be rewarded. The current trend in FPS gaming is to make weapons with low skill plateaus to even the playing field as much as possible and allow new/bad players to compete more readily with skilled/experienced players. I don't like this, but I can understand how it makes a game more friendly -> which means more sales and more money for dev's. Hopefully the BRINK dev's have got the real stuff, and will bring back skilled FPS gaming.

Or at least I hope so ;), I've had this game pre-ordered on Steam since September.

Well, you cannot have a Assault Rifle as a Light character, you're stuck with the SMGs, Pistols, and Short Rifles (Snipers), and I think there will atleast be one weapon that fits your way of playing, Kala :P

And that FPS games are somewhat easy, I sorta know what you mean, but one thing game developers need to think is ''Will it sell?'', if they don't get enough money from sales, someone is gonna go hungry. And if ''casuals'' can play it well, then it will sell.

Exactly, I'll play a medium as well if I have to, but I'm not excited about these light only areas. Which is complete bs imo, give the lights more speed, but do not for any reason let them have access to exclusive areas.

Well then, give the mediums and heavies more health, but don't give 'em more weapons.

When the heavies are afar shooting miniguns he's killing with precision from behind their lines.

Why did you add the word "precision?" Are people that play Light, more accurate than Heavy players or even Mediums? Is their something in their DNA that makes their hand-eye coordination better than other players, and if so, why do these people happen to only play Light? Also, why are you behind enemy lines? Isn't that more of an Operative thing, and not strictly reserved as a Light trait? Can't Heavies and Mediums play Operatives as well? Am I missing something?

When you're feeling outnumbered and terried. He'll sneak up on the enemies and kill them all like a big brother winning it for you. Not just protecting.

There's that "sneaking up and killing" thing again. That is an Operative trait, not a Light trait. You seem to be giving off this preconceived notion that Lights = sneaky ninjas.

He's there when you need a friend to lean on, encouragement, or a quick killer with speed that others dream of.

What do you mean by, "quick killer?" Are you implying that Lights can physically kill other players in a shorter amount of time, or that you are just fast and mobile while you're killing people? I ask, because based on the fact that Lights are limited to using weapons that anyone can use, couldn't everyone else be just as fast at killing as Lights? And what about Heavies and Mediums? Don't they qualify as friends to lean on, or encouragement builders?

This is true. The assault rifle will be too heavy for skinny light arms and will cause lights to stumble trip and fall from high ledges right into the cross hairs of the heavy's minigun. Furthermore if that heavy happens to be me and you get away Wraith WILL catch up with you because he doesn't need an AR. He'll just backstab you as you stumble all over the place making inefficient use of the SMART system.

True enough, but I'm sure there will be an SMG that is more suited to accuracy than the others. Might not do as much damage as an AR, but damage was not part of his criteria.

Precision doesn't have to mean accuracy with a gun. Might've been what he meant, but I could see it describing someone who is skilled with a light, who is very exact in the way they play. The moment you make a mistake with a light bodytype, even just a few bullets can really hurt. But someone who was precise still wouldn't nessicarily be more likely to play as a light, but being a light would require it more than medium or heavy. A heavy with a good awareness of everything going on around him would be a force to be reckoned with, most players stop looking around once they start spraying with a minigun.

A heavy with situational awareness would be like someone who's amazing at using a tank in other games. Everyone is trying to trying to get a shot off with their grenade launchers as the heavy scans the horizon and puts everyone to death with extreme prejudice.

As for light appreciation. The heavy can load lights into his gun and shoot them at the mediums and the lights can shoot their SMGs frantically as they sail through the air.

Umm it makes perfect sense if there is a 15 foot wall or roof only light can shimmy on up it.
