Light armor best overall?

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 2:57 am

The perks for light armor seem to be much better, even for warrior type characters. Two of the Heavy armor ones are utterly useless ("Fists of Steel" and "Cushioned") while all of the light armor perks are great. Especially the one that lets you regen stamina faster. So, other than aesthetic reasons, why would anyone pick heavy armor? I understand the your defense will be higher but late-game, with all of the light armor perks, won't they pretty much equal out?

they equal out I think, for me it's more of a "it feels weird if my 2h nord has on light armor so I use heavy, i think it's really a personal preference

I don't know, I think the case can be made that a warrior like that would prefer more mobility over defense. Heavy armor needs better perks. Also, I kinda hate that they made these two armor's perks basically negate any differences between them.

My 2h warrior loves the 50% stamina perk. I'm a greatsword wielding crit machine!

Fists of steel is useful due to brawling being a part of some quests. However the best reason to take heavy armor is tower of strength. 50% stagger resistance is HUGE. The stam regen could prove useful but in most cases you never need to use your stam other than sprinting or backstabbing(which is a 1 shot deal) so it's mostly a convenience thing. Heavy armor also provides better armor levels early on. At late game it does even out since 567 caps you and light can get you up over 1.7k(heavy even higher) they both go way way over the cap.

I didn't think of it that way, good thing I'm only level 2 with my 2h character :)

Where is the proof of the 567 cap? Saw in an old thread about people discussing what the cap was but no one knew.

Seems highly unlike it would be 567 since light armor can get you well above the cap. That is just poor game design.
