Light armour? You look like a tank!

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 8:35 pm

All the light armours look rather heavy.

Elven, dragonscale and glass look heavier than a lot of the heavier armours!!

can i just point out that glass armour is realy "machalite" armour and uses neither the glass ore or has much machalite on it anyways!! It's pretty much an alternative elven with small amounts of metal dyed green on!! Why couldnt we just have had high quality version of morrowind's glass armour?

Why isn't ebony black?

Why is fur/leather absolutely huge?

What the hell is tullius wearing? Should i be calling him "Caesar"?

Why are dwarven and elven so weak?

What happened to dwarven? It looked cool in oblivion...

Why did i not get back my god/terror/inspiration daedric faces?

Dunno bro. I actually think the low level armor looks better than the goofy high level stuff. It's too bright and shiny.

I went for Light, regardless of archetype for these reasons:

- Weight.
- Longer sprinting.
- Armour design less 'childish'.
- Glass arrmour.

Well, the higher level armor are supposed to look that way... I wear Steel with the shield of Ysgramor, and the helm of Yngol. What really bothers me is reaching the armor cap so easily, and It being 80% .Even at master, I have to go with worse armor just so I'm not immortal against melee attacks.

Anyone found the elven weapons rather clunky looking?

I'll admit, I was a bit miffed when I first saw the elven swords.

I had expected their design to be much more similar to that of Ebony, sleek, beautiful and deadly.

(Yes, I do agree. I look much heavier in my Glass Armor than in my Ebon Armor xD )

This, although my Nord warrior needs his heavy armor. He'll be sticking with Steel Plate, though, which I think is the best and most natural looking armor in the game.

I prefer leather and or fur armor. I'm making a hunter werewolf character most likely nord and it most likely I'll just make some awesome legendary fur armor or forsworn, but I don't really like the forsworn. And the only cool leather armor I like that you can get is in the Thieves Guild or the DB. And that's ridiculous. Assassins aren't the only people who want to wear that kind of stuff. I wanted a "good" "save the world" type, and he's stuck with fur armor. I don't like glass or elven armor because I am not a big heavy metal, plate armor type of person. I have always enjoyed the look of light armor leather. Can we not have some good leather armor in the later levels beyond the original leather? Look at this you have:

-Steel cuffed [nordic or non]

-Steel plated

-Skyforge steel

But you only have one type of leather outfit? The fudge.

What about Hide, Studded and Scale? (Granted, the helmets look like [censored]e, but...).

Um, ebony armor IS black.

Dwarven armor being so weak is funny to me. They were the most advanced race and have weak armor? That makes sense??

I don't really like hide or studded and scale.

I don't like how none of the guys end up wearing a full on cuirass instead it's like a belt across his chest and he thinks he looks manly that way.

And granted my character is kind of lean and scrawny muscular it just looks tacky to see this pathetically skinny guy wearing armor that shows his bare chest. I realize not all the variants are this way, I just don't really like the hide armor at all. And as stated when a scrawny guy is wearing plated armor, it looks kind of tacky.

And even the fur armor in Skyrim has issues because it looks like someone glued on the shoulders fur. Instead of actually have an interesting sort of fur armor, it looks like something made with fabric glue.

Actually it sort of does, if you read some of the books in-game.
While they learned and build amazing machines and such, they didn't really put much work into personal arms, rather relying on the centurions and other constructs doing their fighting.
As much as their skills advanced in other areas, their personal arms and armour hardly changed at all.

Why isn't ebony black?

It's black, just not an especially deep shade of black.

Why is fur/leather absolutely huge?

Have you ever tried blocking an arrow or sword with fur or leather? It needs to be huge in order to be effective.

What the hell is tullius wearing? Should i be calling him "Caesar"?

The Empire has had a very strong Roman influence in every single Elder Scrolls game.

Why are dwarven and elven so weak?

Compared to what? Daedric? Glass? Dragonscale? They're a mid-tier armor, and they always have been.

What happened to dwarven? It looked cool in oblivion...

They changed the design to reflect what it looked like in Morrowind. In other words, they returned the armor design to its origins (since every armor looked the same in Daggerfall). Also, I disagree with your opinion that Dwarven doesn't look cool.

Why did i not get back my god/terror/inspiration daedric faces?

Why do you need multiple helmets of the same type, all but one of which are weaker than the other Daedric armor pieces?

Ebony isn't black, it's a much prettier shade of very dark blue.

I prefer Daedric Armour, I know it's the strongest in the game but even if it was the weakest I would probably use it because it just looks so [censored] sixy!

P.S - The Ebony armour is black? Or very dark purple...

1. It is
2. Because it's fur, you need a lot of it to protect from anything. Leather is not huge...?
3. Unique armor
4. Because they are they are low in the teir..what's not to understand? Everything above them look superior
5. You can't be serious, dwarven looks infinitely better in skyrim
6. Some things get removed, more get added, you should know this by now

These are all pointless complaints, just play the game and enjoy it..seriously

Why? They did all that just so you could come to the board and complain. They were thinking, "How can we give some twelve year old the ability to come to the forum and feel superior to us?"

It's his personal Legion commander armor. And yes, he does look a bit like Augustus Caesar.

Mid-tier

I preferr just good steel heavy, don't like any of the light armours, nor none of the heavies above steel. Steel plate looks too knightish which is cool if you wan to play a noble, but I prefer to play as a common working-class warrior that makes do with what he finds and upgrades it. Glass looks too exotic for a land like Skyrim, it's a massive improvement over Oblivion's Glass armour. Daedric looks awful, so does Ebony, Orcish is okay but aside from the bow, the weapons look too weak. Fur looks okay, Nightingale looks awesome, and hide and studded hide looks like gimp gear.

Iron and steel for me for that rugged, Nordic asthetics that fit in nicely to Skyrim's environment, and the Steel and Nord Hero Swords are just about the most beautiful weapons in the game.

While I like that look of the Elven armor, (though it looks more like elven heavy plate thain 'light' elven armors), I really love the fur and hide armor sets.

Not only do fur and hide look cool, they also count as the only really 'skimpy' male armor sets. ^_^

To be honest, I was disappointed with the non-inclusion of cloaks and capes as an extra armour slot, being able to craft them from animal skins (who wouldn't like to see a sabrecat head on each shoulder linked to a long cloak? Would keep you warm in cold Skyrim).

Asthetically the armour availible is an improvement over Oblivion's (with the exeption of leather, leather armour in OB was awesome looking, in Skyrim it looks crap). But I was under the impression that the lack of armour slots would mean much more customisation options, now it's not the case. Disappointing indeed.

I agree that light armor is a total dissapointment because the best light armors look like full plate. I am waiting for mods. Full elven or dragonscale looks completely like heavy armor. I just use the broken smithing sytem to smith up weaker starter armors so I can look like a real rogue in leather armor.
