light body type weapons

Post » Fri Oct 15, 2010 1:06 am

all ive read and heard says that light body types can only use smgs and pistols but in one of the dev diaries and the cg trailer i see light body types with sniper rifles, so i'd like to know which is it, can lights use snipers or no? because if they can it would be awesome all the sniper positions you could get to :D

p.s. oh and also i read in the horse compendium thing on fragworld that no guns will be one shot kills, does that mean that a shotgun blast straight to the face wont kill anyone?

They can use light rifles and SMG's as primary weapons. Pistols are secondary. Yes no OHK's.

no OHK's well that kinda stinks for me if im rite up close to someone with only a shotgun, or maybe no OHK's doesnt include incapacitating the enemy in one shot?

All players get incapacitated before they die - you cannot outright kill a player, even if you dropped a grenade down their pants.

I think a one-hit-incapacitating is possible with grenades at your feet or a shotgun-barrel right in the face (pretty much as it can be seen in the "A Choir of Guns" video).
And with a highly buffed rifle you'll probably be able to incapacitate an unbuffed light with one headshot.

The shotgun might get by that "no OHK" rule by effectively having 10 shots in one trigger pull. At close range, it only took 2 shots to kill a guy, so shoving it in someones mouth seems like it would do some damage.

I don't actually think there are snipers. Just Light Rifles or something along that line, something Semi-auto maybe I'm not sure....

Check out this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tI4y2P0r7K0 is what I'm talking about.

Well, I can tell you right now, the revolver will have more damage per shot.

Lets say a machine pistol can fire of 8 rounds as fast a a revolver can fire 2. The revolver doing 20 damage a shot and the machine pistol doing 9 damage a shot. The machine pistol would be my choice. Damage per shot isn't the only factor I consider. Also, if it isn't really accurate, I won't use it.

That's irrelevant - you said per shot - a shot is one bullet. You didn't say per trigger pull. A Revolver bullet will do more than a machine pistol. Chances are, the Revolver would be more accurate as well.

When comparing the 2, the only the machine pistol really has is ROF and magazine size.

uuhh, revolvers have a significant drop in stopping power due to semi-open brach (space between cylinder and barrel) and really only barrel length will determine accuracy, for equal barrel length the pistol is superior due to closed breach and recoil reduction with moving slide

I'd rather have a .357 magnum than a standard 9mm pistol any day of the week. Ask any cop who's had to take down a crazed meth head about stopping power.

Thank you firearms aficionado - unfortunately, real world gun physics and statistics, don't tend to carry over well to video games.
In video games, Revolvers tend to be the slowest, most powerful handguns, with a fair amount of accuracy and high recoil. Machine pistols tend to have the fastest ROF, with low damage, low to fair accuracy and moderate to high recoil.

Maybe, maybe, but the thing is this is a old trailer and I am pretty sure I saw it somewhere stating that there will be no snipers only Light rifles. Maybe someone else would like to clarify this?

And they also said no rockets. I know that for a fact. An they said nothing about dual wields. And there isn't any swords. I mean it is just a trailer but....

There is a lot of stuff in the cinematic trailer which will not be present in the actual game.

That being OHK-sniper-rifles, large knives, dual wielding and writing on bullets/grenades.

Correction, that's the .357 mag's stopping power.

The only real advantage to revolvers is their their ability to handle larger rounds than most semi-autos can, price (compare to a semi-auto that can fire the same round), and their reliability, without having to be serviced every month.

Nail is correct, and you would generally do best not to correct military men about weapons >.>

Fair enough, but my assessment and example stand, regardless if it's due to the ammo or not. For the record, I've also been in the service, so your last comment is not welcome.

Well, it's essentially the same.

They are shorter and lighter than sniper-rifles. ;)
